When will hip hop just fucking die, bros? Will it dominate the 20s as it did the 10s, or will it finally fuck off?

Thanks to soundcloud rap its already on the way down. Abstract hip hop is responsible for the most popular hip hop release this year so its soon going to get old and lose all music scene cred. I don't know what's going to replace it, but neopsych is getting more and more popular.
I'd rather die than have neopsych be as popular as hip hop is right now
I'm listening to the new Yves Tumor album right now and its really neopsych influenced so yeah I've got some bad news for you.
>neopsych is getting more and more popular.
It is? I thought it died in like 2014 but then again I haven't really been paying attention to new music.
I saw a post here sometime last year predicting that the 2020s would be Rap’s last decade of mainstream dominance. The poster’s reasoning was that Rock had five decades in the spotlight (1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s) before fading out of the spotlight, and rap has had four so far (1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s)
We’re already at the post-ironic stage where black people who rap about the same pussy/money/weed/guns as before now wear pink hair, skinny jeans, dad hats and women’s sweaters. The end is nigh.
literally who?
I'd be fine if it stays around, but trap has definitely overstayed it's welcome at this point.
bring back memphis rap
Does that mean some rapper will blow his brains out with a shotgun in 2024 and signal the death of hip hop?
Isn't that what trap is?
doesnt sound the same to me
>The poster’s reasoning was that Rock had five decades in the spotlight (1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s)
What about the 2000s with the trashy redneck rock (Nickelback, Creed, etc.) and faggy indie rock (the Strokes, Interpol, etc.)?
Hip-hop ran out of stuff to say by the end of the 90s.
Rock didn’t really die until the turn of the new millennium.
I fucking hope so and I love hip hop
If that counts as alive, Rap will still be alive in the 2030s, but considering how bad it is already, I don’t even want to think about what it will be like then.
The age of the celebrity has come to a shockingly abrupt end. When people start going back to school and work there will be no more rappers. The people who were rappers beforehand will just be a bunch of faggots.
That's probably how this is all going to turn out.
We need a name for this theory.
It's the marketing structure used by the record business in the 20th century. You were convinced that variations on duple metered blues based music were distinct genres by marketing executives. It's okay because mostly all of us were.
Garbage theorem, kill yourself.
How long did jazz last? (As a dominant genre ofc, rock still exists too)
this doesn't account for the overlap at all between the two. i prefer to think of it in the 30 year cycle, starting with a really great decade, then a mediocre decade, then a really bad decade, then a really great decade in reaction to the last.
think 60s (good, response to lightness of 50s/early 60s) 70s (mediocre) 80s (bad) -> 90s (good, opposed to the 80s), 00s (mediocre, if you combine popular and indie), 10s (bad). rap is either going to reinvent itself or be killed in this decade imo
Not him, but around the same length of time.
jazz gets big in the late 1910s with like odjb and things like that but it was stylistically around before that. its hard to draw a clean line between jazz and the ragtime or blues era
it began in the late 18th century but it wasn't big until around the 1920's. it started to be overtaken by rock in the late 50's on to the 60's and 70's
Would be amazing.
Pure novelty isn't going to be as valued in the 21st century the way it was in 20th century pop music. Most of you are approaching this from an angle that's not even fresh out of ideas. You're scraping the bottom of a barrel that's been scraped over about four or five times now.
Rock originated from blues, but lots of rock music is completely divorced from blues.
>tfw the replacement for all the shitty rap music is just going to be shitty EDM and shitty retro rock revival and some other fag shit
>lots of rock music is completely divorced from blues
If the music is centered around polyrhythmic backbeats then it's not even slightly distinct from blues in any sense that's practical or matters.
Do you hear any blues in these tracks?

Yes and not even in an ancillary way.
I dont see how it dies when its literally the cheapest and easiest music to make. Each gen gets lazier and lazier so more complex music isnt going to take off. Plus the media like Google and etc wont let hip hop die for obvious reasons. They will keep spamming the shit out of it.
Sorry faggot but trap is better than ever. Maybe expand yourself instead of being some boring cunt who gets butthurt at the sound of music that differs from what you listen to.
death grips is still good. it's evolving in the underground.

hip hop is more like blues than it is like rock (simplistic, predominantly black).
>pink hair, skinny jeans, dad hats and women’s sweaters
this is just the white-ifaction of the genre and will probably gain new traction now that young white kids are making hip hop in droves. sorry i wish i wernt true as well
How so?
are face tatt aposematic haired mumblers the hairmetalers of hip hip?
>jazz
>late 18th century
I think they are more like the punk of hip hop. The hair metal would be stuff like Drake, Kendrick, Kanye, etc.
punks were about social activism and rebelion. souncloud rap, much like hair metal, is all about being a drug addled crossdresser giving a fuck about nothing
You're as cringe as someone unironically calling alt-right the new punk rock.
Why are you bringing politics into it? Piss off idiot
what's the grunge version of that? because that sounds pretty grungy to me.
>posts a song from 3 years ago from the dead trap metal trend
if you think the innovation is still there you're mistaken
>being a drug addled crossdresser giving a fuck about nothing
That sounds like punk.
I call your music theory the Nigger's Cope
trap metal is next up
trap metal died after X did
Hip hop will never die. It'll just move underground to reinvent itself.
See Crushed Trap:

This along with other underground genres like Cloud Rap/Nightcore Trap and Tread Trap will be the future of hip hop. And these sounds are constantly evolving. Hip hop is like a shark if it ever stops moving it'll die but with all thee new micro genres and artists popping that doesn't look like it'll be a problem for a while. Not to mention the public will probably never get completely tired of it. It's up there with pop now. The sound will change but its not going anywhere
based
Facts. Speaking of facts...
here's a future classic of Bit-Crush.
Im glad Crushed Trap is getting more attention. I can see it really taking off.
Stop shilling your garbage.
pls give me a quick rundown of what seperates all three of those rap genres you listed?? im interested
Sound, texture, flow, themes, atmosphere.
Nightcore was a cute novelty, not a genre. You're off your game son
digi isnt essential, man
he's good, but not great
okay, so next to the youtube links, you can click the little "[Embed]" and the video will pop up
you can click on the video and the song will start playing
pretty neat, huh?
If the meter and rhythmic percussive elements of a genre dont separate them from other genres in any meaningful way then what does, in your opinion? Harmonic arrangement, chord structure/voicing, melodic phrasing? Genuinely curious
Bubblegum bass, most likely. The Gecs made the perfect music for TikTok and zoomers love them. I hated the idea (and still do), but I've come to terms with the fact that no one will care about the bass guitar or physical instruments in a few decades' time.
>Hip hop will never die. It'll just move underground to reinvent itself.
This is what people are saying about rock and now no one gives a shit in the underground anymore.
No thanks. That would entail actually listening to it
I don't think anyone but RCB are great rn, but Digighouls and Tomoe The Undying have room to really put the genre on the map. Tomoe is really popping on soundcloud and Digis dropped two albums just last month on youtube. I think theyre doing a lot to push the sound
Hip hop unlike Rock is diverse and multi cultured. Rock was mostly just white boomers and ran out of steam fast. Meanwhile everyone can fuck with hip hop
>fuck with
Kill yourself.
dungeon rap is here to stay
Whatever sensitive nigga Im just telling you how it is.
Hip hop is just getting started
everyone can't fuck with hip hop
unless you really mean watered down trap pop
"Boohoo I don't like your dialect. The slang that other people use genuinely bothers me because I'm a literal child."
Listen to what people are saying not how they're saying it you infantile reprobate
>Abstract hip hop is responsible for the most popular hip hop release this year
I didn't know Eternal Atake was "abstract hip hop"
White people make hip hop
Black people make hip hop
Asians make hip hop
Indians make hip hop
Russians make hip hop.
What I mean is everyone can do it and get into hip hop easily
I am sick of seeing RCB getting shilled they are hacks
I mean the barrier to entry is literally 2 bar drum loops, 2 chord loop/ midi packs/ sample packs, and an 808 that follows that follows the kick and the root notes of the chords the kick's on. A literal retard could make passable hip hop music within a week of trying
