Brand New is the most overrated band of all time. It’s audience consists mostly of girls who thought Jesse Lacey was cute in the early 2000s.

But a closer look at the band reveals the pathetic nature of their career. First the style of this band is quite literally taken from Morrisseys style. Visually it looks like a photo shoot from the Malajusted era.

Sonically? Not to far off, in some cases the same, and it goes beyond an homage. It is plagiarism and a lack of creativity. And it extends to the Eagles, and Nirvana, and Fugazi. All copies note for note and word for word, style for style.

What innovations did this band bring? Ignoring the pop punk record and the post-hardcore record Daisy. both of which offer nothing new. It leaves deja entendu (perhaps a warning to the listener that the album is mostly plagiarism) which is a cheap and tired tirade of pseud tier intellectual thoughts about raping under age girls. This sound ‘evolves’ into Devil and God, a more brainlet version, with more rape songs and more Morrissey melodies and Marr guitar hooks hidden within.
Most Notable is the grooming of underage girls for sex.
For Daisy the lyrics become even worse drudgery of faux deep lyrics written by a big fan of Fugazi and Rites of Spring.

The last record is nearly unlistenable. The band resorts to ‘clips’ of dark imagery from movies and appears to be an attack on the Mormon Church. Yes. Jesse, the Mormon Church is the bad guys, the underage girl rapist is the hero.
