Also, that 4ms listen piece kinda blows. I have a friend that has it. Just use your vcas to blend down to one and get the alm headphone 2hp piece. Save space and money.

I wish I knew what the fuck I was doing on ModularGrid. Eurorack synths look cool but I still don't understand what most modules do. I should probably just stick to regular synths or maybe try a semi-modular before even thinking about touching Eurorack.

I've dicked around with VCV Rack and Automatonism and tend to get some of the concepts of Clocks, VCOs, VCFs, etc. I think where I get confused it actually reading up on individual modules and how it would integrate into a greater system. I have no clue what the fuck I would do with a Wogglebug for example. Thanks for the guides though.

it’s interrelated random voltages, you would patch it to modulate parameters of your patch ..kind of thing you learn potential uses for by trying out random voltages in vcvrack. then search wogglebug on Muffwiggler and read how other people are using it after you have read the make noise manual which probably gives example patches..or go to Wiard site and read what Grant has to say about wogglebug since he’s the guy who designed it. I’m sure there is also an article in that sound on sound about random voltages and how to use em. you gotta put a little effort in user but this stuff is pretty simple.

Alright, admittedly I'm not great when it comes to being focused. You're right though I should spend more time actually researching modules and synthesis. While i'm at it any cases you would recommend for a beginner? Is a 1 rack, 84hp case a good size to experiment with?

I havnt paid much attention to racks lately but the tip-top happy ending rack was good inexpensive option for beginner. The tip-top mantis is very nice and probably best deal If you need the power/hp. Power and cases are an area where you should spend a lot of time researching DIY, you will save a LOT of money if you build your own. Source rails etc from synthrotek for cheap etc. The more time spent researching, the more money you’ll save and be able to spend on modules etc.

I figured as much, Initially I was looking at a Make Noise 104hp Skiff with power and it came down to 250$. I could get around two Volcas for that price. The funny thing is that was one of the cheaper options for a Eurorack case. I'll take a look at the tip-top stuff. As someone who's a dumbass when it comes to this I appreciate the help.

Those make noise skiffs are very nice but they are more oriented towards housing your control modules, looking at make noise that would be like pressure points and Rene or whatever sequencer/“keyboard” interface you might use. it would be tabletop to sit in front of your rack and be playable in a comfortable position. like a keyboard

Hey guys I recently bought an MS-20 Mini (first synth) and I've had heaps on fun using it, but I have not good audio card to record shit. Any reccs on a cheap audio interface I can use? Any help is appreciated. Also was this a good idea to buy as a first synth? or should I sell for something else. I've been loving it so far but am a little bit annoyed at the monophonicity (since I'm a piano player and lover of phat chords).

Don’t know what Bass runners is but check out old drum machines like the TR 707, or much cheaper, the 505. There are tons of cheap old drum machines from the 80s with vintage sounds, but they look like calculators. I don’t know much about groove boxes though, consider whether or not you want something that is good at sampling, and since your doing synthwave I’d look for something that lets you edit a pattern, like the sequencer on a TR808, virtually or not. A lot of 80s artists with memorable drum sequences cared more about making a pattern with a drum machine rather than making something an actual drummer would play.
