Are you sure the people you are downloading from are online and that you are also online? Are you sharing files yourself because some people won't let you download from them if you are not. Go into the options and check to see if your ports are open, you can also try changing the ports to see if your isp is fucking something up. If it's not one of those things then I have no idea

Probably because that's how p2p thrives. Too many leeches and everyone is just stuck in queues. It does suck because new people probably don't have anything downloaded, the reason they're using slsk in the first place.

I've never understood why people oppose the idea of having to share things to download from other people. You say everyone is a thief, but many people upload rare stuff from their own collection that you can't find anywhere else and they spend a lot of time organizing their stuff. The only way you are able to find obscure things you want is if as many people share things as possible. You also only have to share one file to be able to download.

That's simply not true. Some users have a certain amount you have to share before they'll share with you. I encountered one user who expected you to have upwards of 1k files shared. That kind of user is the minority but they do exist and are just snobs. I have a new laptop (didn't save my information like a dipshit from my previous one), am sharing 4,693 as of right now (and my soulseeks folder is one of the folders that's shared, so everything I get is shared back). It's still a stupid system.

The original artist/label that originally produced the record is getting jack shit, it's still thievery in my book. There's no sense of morals when everyone is being immoral.
