I was expecting a short piece in binary form with well balanced dissonance and consonance that uses counterpoint efficiently that i may or may not have heard before and would have annoyed me if it was played on piano and not harpsichord
I was pleasantly surprised

Chopin once said "Do not express Chopin. Express yourselves." From my observations those who call Chopin mediocre are those who have nothing to say on their own.

>who have nothing to say on their own
but I have just said something

guess what he was referring to

something by Boulez

my music

I'm gonna go with Mahler. Probably his 3rd since it's his longest, but maybe his 6th which is his flashiest (non choral) symphony and was written when he was going through some deep shit.

When you tune your violin.

youtu.be/gd0dMs0MTg8

I only know Chalyapin and he's a bass.
youtu.be/bHW9nrZwxNE
That Sobinov lad sounds nice too

10/10, one of the five best violin concertos of the past 150 years

That doesn't even make sense. What an annoying cunt. He wrote a couple of good tunes and that's it

six*, forgot about Sibelius

>seen
Probably one of those graphs showing Bach's counterpoint

You talking shit bout my boy Chopin?

Fugues aren't that hard, large orchestral pieces seem much more challenging to me to write.

>tenacity of the human spirit
sounds like he was praising (((something))) in PC approved ways

le epick pol larp xDDDDDDDDD

Agreed. Amazing piece.

xD

Gould was incredibly succint and articulate, and very knowledgeable. Imagine what an absolute authority he would be, had he not ruined it by being an autistic moaning asshole.

You DO listen to highbrow music, don't you, /classical/?

Yes. Yes, some of them I do.

@94116077
Gould was articulate because he was autistic. Have you heard a sperg talk about his hobby? That's how Gould talks.

>Bach and before, Ives and after
DANGEROUSLY based.

Attached: 1564741061400.gif (320x240, 1.47M)

>Have you heard a sperg talk about his hobby?
well yeah, a number of them, actualy, and muuuuch more often than not they speak too quickly and in a weird monotone. Granted, they don't trip on their words but you can tell they're not apt to, say, teach a class

*COFF* *COUGH* I'm sure some idiots do *HACK*

what is this from?

>if it sounds random you need ear training
You're right. For instance, dodecaphony is very restricted compared to tonal music and sounds bland because it is so uniform by design. I think user has a point because mashing together all the notes like this cancels out the expressive potential. It's like when you put all your spices in a dish. No chef is going to argue that this good cooking :o

Jokes aside, Gould wasn't autistic. He was super neurotic and didn't give a fuck about his conversational partner. Practically he gave monologues because he really conversed with his overbearing mother that - i feel - he disliked.
His points and ideas were original and interesting at least

AH shit I've got the chinese plague! I better pay the k-pop general a visit
