The "no spoonfeeding" tenet was born as part of a wider reaction to the prevailing Yas Forums culture, which has always been heavily dependant on the spoon. By violently rejecting parental indoctrination, /bleep/ was able to differentiate itself as an individual, separate community and so sustain itself despite it's small size. Those other communities had no preexisting mass to distance themselves from, and in any case are too large and exposed (to newcomers) for such an insular culture to develop.

Of course, this is just one part of a wider strategy that also includes the weaponisation of localised/deglobalised blemery based on a shared physical space ("Corsica", "Fabric") to strategically ostracise the net-based Yas Forums other.
