Are you fucking retarded? This isn't even controversial, society is still collectively embarrassed by post-grunge

this chart just doesn’t work dude

>Nirvana
>Grunge
That's how I know you're a fucking rube, user. Kurt Cobain's faggoty pop punk ass has nothing on Soundgarden. Cope.

>comparing faggot fighters to pil or fugazi
t. Dave Grohl.

Repeater is fuckin god tier dude the answer is obviously post grunge

It should be obvious, even tho I don't really consider grunge a genre.

post-grunge doesnt exist it's still grunge

ftfy

Attached: fuck you.jpg (1376x811, 505.69K)

should have posted a picture of Kid A or OK Computer on post-britpop

based "nirvana are pop-punk not grunge" user at it again

Im tired of music
Whens Post-Music

then it wouldn't be a steep decline pinche negrita

>radiohead
>britpop
jfc the state of this board

You obviously weren't alive when post grunge was huge.
Arguably killed Cobain. He was that embarrassed.

then why even bother posting britpop?

this board is fucking dead as dog shit

"post-trap" - i.e. lil peep, Billie Eilish, etc.

>Which suffered the greatest drop in quality?
>only one of them is a drop in quality
hm i dont know

What does Yas Forums thinks of parachutes? I think it's a solid 7/10.

We've been saying that for over a decade 2bh.

>lol i fell 4 the sh1tp0st!!1
The absolute state of Yas Forums in 2020.

SHUT. THE FUCK. UP.

I always thought post-grunge was the kind of music you'd hear on WWE promos, like Seether and Trapt.

this

the whole album is basically High and Dry copy pasted but it's pretty enjoyable nonetheless

all imrovements, post-grunge is just grunge and shoegaze's baby
foo fighters is a great band. fuck you

>just grunge and shoegaze's baby
isn't that just the smashing pumpkins?

At least pick on a shitty post-punk band like Echo and the bunnymen or a shitty post-hardcore band like at the drive in.

then this would make more sense.

?

should have included Joy Division and New Order

>all imrovements, post-grunge is just grunge and shoegaze's baby
do you ever read what you write before posting?

No, then you'll had to add you're living all over me to the mix.

>Echo & The Bunnymen
>shitty
based
>At the Drive In
>shitty
cringe. get help user

>punk rock thread
>Bunch of autists shitting rules

That Foo Fighters album is pretty good. You should replace it with Creed or Puddle of Mudd

SHE NOT BREATHING

SHE NOT MOVING

SHE NOT COMING BACK

g.g allin in rolling in fucking grave

And this is why I still come here after over a decade.

Nothing in the smashing pumpkins' catalog makes me think of Dinosaur Jr.

To be honest, it still has room to move like trip hop. Wasn't filled out as an idea.

Siamese dream = ylaom + nevermind + loveless

Not really, you're still missing the prog and dream pop influences. It's pretty useless to try to reduce SD to 3 albums.

I don't get the YLAOM vibes. Not in composition, not in production, not in overall direction. I do get some Husker Du vibes.

there's not much of a difference between grunge and post grunge

the bends was britpop though you fucking idiot. it wasnt until ok boomputer that radiohead became art rock.

In terms of being analogous to what post-punk and post-hardcore were to punk and hardcore in regards to Pistols -> PiL and Minor Threat -> Fugazi, the records on this list are a better idea of "post-grunge" than fucking Foo Fighters

spin.com/2013/01/blame-nirvana-40-weirdest-post-nevermind-major-label-albums/130104-nevermind-2/

>bends
>britpop
ah yes, the atmospheric guitar work, melancholic mood and depressive lyrics of The Bends have everything to do with britpop's psychadelia and new wave derived sounds influences and cheeky lyrics dealing with british culture

>Prog, dream pop
Those are attached to ylaom and loveless

nirvana and soundgarden are literally the only two good mainstream grunge bands, user. we have to stick together

have you ever listened to ylaom? there isn't anything prog or dream pop about it, it's basically wipers meet neil young with overdriven bass

Sounds proggy (in style) for me

>nirvana
>quality
pick one

go to sleep, Dave

what do you mean in style? it's very straightforward, almost all songs follow the intro/verse/chorus/verse/chorus/solo over the verse/chorus/outro formula. Only exception is Little Fury Things as it doesn't have a solo, even though it does have a break, and Poledo. Fuck, I really doubt Mascis uses more than 8 chords in the whole album.

The answer is none of the above because it is instead:
all rock music before numetal>numetal

fucking semantics, nigger

also
>muh wrong generation only 80's kids will get it I listen to Frank Zappa

>being pleb filtered by numetal
it was the last sincere movement in rock history, shame the industry cashed in so quickly on it

>leftie wiggers with the emotional maturity of a toddler
>sincere
pre nu-metal, yes, those fucking pussies that sucked Korn's dick, no

Post-Grunge was a shitty term to begin with and I am almost certain it was initially used ironically by journalists but quickly took off. Post-Punk and Post-Hardcore built heavily upon Punk and Hardcore's simplicity and straight-forward nature and took the music to a more complex place instrumentally, structurally and were overall more ambitious. Post-Grunge did the opposite for Grunge music and instead made it simpler, dumbed-down and more palatable to the mainstream.
Granted, you could argue Post-Punk and Post-Hardcore were also more palatable to the mainstream than their predecessors, but it's because they were easier on the ears, not because they were simpler and less creative, which IS the case for Post-Grunge.

>Grunge was a shitty term to begin with
and yes, you are right

there's no such thing as prenumetal, it's still numetal, most bands sucked but some were great
like I said, it's a shame the industry cashed in so quickly, but it was initially a sincere movement, it doesn't matter if it was made by immature people

This thread is fucking retarded.

rap metal and industrial != numetal

you're retarded

I really despise the term "post-grunge". Nobody besides music journalists, who really ought to be ignored, used that term. It was all just alt-rock
