Yes this is unfortunately true...I got banned for life from rating album genres because I participated in the joke genres for Kyle and the Gang's Grant Theft Auto V. Honestly, why is this shit like this? Are there too few mods so they just permaban anyone that mildly annoys them to save time?

RYM is perfectly fine if you avoid the community itself. That also means any of the charts of the current year or the past few but the ones from 10 years ago should be fine.

I just hate to see what it's become. It used to be a sort of community, now it's a bunch of wannabe music journalists trying to force the rest of us to write Rolling Stone articles for them. RYM and last.fm were both cool 10-15 years ago and then the mods said "fuck the userbase, let's make more money"

The forums are fun, but kinda vanilla compared to moo

The reviews and comments sections can be pretty annoying I admit

We seethe about RYM because it’s a great site when avoiding the community but that becomes harder when you aren’t in something niche. Like I’ve been using their charts for dungeon synth and italio disco and it’s fine. But I’d lean anywhere near more vogue genres like deconstructed club or industrial (which is currently filled with trannies) it’s becomes terrible
