You’re missing the point. Great songs like that we’re made by people who wanted to break the mold, and not sound like soft inoffensive fluff. Covers like these just say “hey what if we made it soft and lame” removes the character from the song. Some songs were meant to be played how they were played originally. I blame MTV Unplugged for this retarded idea that playing shit on an acoustic makes it somehow more meaningful or some dumb shit like that. For example, let’s look at Layla. The original version of Layla is incredibly emotional while still rocking. You can feel the anguish of every line, and the end part just brings grown men to tears. The Unplugged version has no urgency, is practically sung in monotone compared to the original, and there’s no coda. Completely ruined.
