Rules: >Knockout style tournament with brackets (1v1 each round) >One song per artist/band >Song length limit: 5 minutes. If your song is SLIGHTLY longer it’s fine. >First 16 submissions will compete, will be extended to 32 if we get enough >Any genre allowed, instrumentals are permitted >In order to verify you’re not sending multiple songs, and also to protect the competitors from theft, we need evidence that your submission is already uploaded somewhere. Anything goes: Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Youtube, Spotify, etc. Haven’t uploaded it anywhere yet? No problem. Just upload it to youtube (it can be set to private) and send me the link. >Need a wav, mp3, etc. of the song and I'll upload them to vocaroo for voting. >To preserve anonimity, only song names will be made public for the tournament >Voting via Google Forms >Voting rounds daily around 12 EST with a 24 hour window for each round >VERY IMPORTANT: Anonimity is obligatory while the tournament is live. This is in order to avoid the tournament becoming just another dump/shilling thread, and to encourage anyone from participating. The main objectives are having fun while listening to our fellow Yas Forumstants’ work, and to help them get their music across to new listeners. For this reason, YOUR IDENTITY CAN’T BE REVEALED BEFORE THE END OF THE TOURNAMENT OR IT WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION. However, when the tournament is over anyone can shill away at their discretion.
Once I get the submissions I’ll set the brackets and we’re good to go! I’ll keep you posted on how many slots are left.
So, to summarize, contestants need to send: >sound file with their track (mp3, wav, etc) >song name (this will be public) >artist/band name (this will remain secret for the duration of the tournament, it’s just to avoid multiple submissions from same person) >evidence that song has already been uploaded somewhere i.e. link to your spotify/bandcamp/whatever (this is in order to avoid song thefts) >Haven’t uploaded it anywhere yet? No problem, Just send a youtube link set to private

I think 24 hours per round is fair (8 songs per round, to give people a chance to listen to every song).

I'm really glad there's this much interest, but I think it's smart to keep it at 16 this first time to avoid it getting out of hand lmao (also to iron out the fine details). If all goes well I'll gladly do a 32 rounder next week.
