1. Nirvana
2. Alice in Chains
3. Shirley Temple Pilots
4. Pearl Jam
5. Soundgarden

If Courtney Love had never killed Kurt then we would have never have had to put up with The Foo Fighters.

If Dave had stayed on QOTSA with his mouth shut, Foo Fighters would have gone into History as a good band

>implying wasting light isn't one of the greatest rock albums ever

Goddamn, The Foo Fighters are the most generic rock band in history.

1. Alice in Chains
2. Nirvana
3. Pearl Jam
4. Soundgarden
5. Stone Temple Pilots

SOUNDGARDEN IS THE BEST GRUNGE BAND BAR NONE AND I WILL NOT ENTERTAIN ANY ARGUMENTS TO THE CONTRARY
LISTEN TO THE ALBUM SUPERUNKNOWN IN ITS ENTIRETY AND TELL ME THAT IT IS NOT THE PERFECT MELDING OF ROCK, POP, AND HEAVY METAL, A TOWERING MONUMENT TO WHAT MAKES MUSIC GREAT AND ENJOYABLE, PACKED TO THE BRIM WITH HEAVY SORROWFUL DEEP CUTS, CHART-TOPPING ROCK N ROLLERS, SOLID-GOLD PRODUCTION WITH LOADS OF SPACE, CLARITY, AND HEAVINESS, RAW PERFORMANCES, CREATIVE EMPOWERMENT, AND BEAUTIFUL ARTISTRY

It isn't

thats ok bro i just like the album a lot

badmotorfinger is better

absolute based sexts of unadulterated, raw truth

Attached: maxresdefault (2).jpg (876x702, 79.79K)

Screaming Life/Fopp is better

1. Nirvana
2. Soundgarden
3a Pearl Jam
3b Alice In Chains
3c Stone Temple Pilots
All bands with 8+ records in their discography

badmotorfinger really good i just wish the production was a little better it sounds a little flat and the guitars are a little buzzy and weak. the ideal would be something in between BMF and SU

also if black rain and birth ritual were included on that album (which were written / mostly recorded around those sessions) even with those problems i'd have to agree

>AIC is shit
cringe
>the quintessential grunge band is not grunge
cringe
>Soundgarden below Pearl Jam
cringe
>Soundgarden AND STP below Pearl Jam
holy cringe?

jesus how much cringe can you pack in one thread?

Jesus Christo

absolutely fucking dabbed on

STP isn't grunge, unless your definition of grunge is "any hard rock from the 90s". their only album that evens resembles any of the grunge bands is Core.

>Nirvana
>the quintessential grunge band

16-year-old girl spotted

1. Melvins
2. Screaming Trees
3. Nirvana
4. Love Battery
5. Alice In Chains

>the band that exposed the scene to mainstream audiences is not the quintessential band
Smells Like Teen Spirit is still probably the most famous song from that era.

We would've had to have put up with more Nirvana which is worse

Smells Like Teen Spirit is a pop-punk anthem that signalled the death of the movement

>the movement
You mean a bunch of guys playing in rock bands in Seattle? Yeah, quite the "movement".

it really was

incorrect but i kekd

Only after it was marketed as such by the mainstream media. The bands didn't call themselves "grunge", dummy. "Grunge" is an invention of the media.

Truly was the best grunge band and it's not even close.

1-Foo Fighters
2-Creed
3-Nickelback

Nirvana is the most pure form of grunge. Other acts like Soundgarden and AIC blend other genres, while Nirvana is basically is the melodic punk/alt rock version of grunge as is commonly thought of. Only a retard would say Nirvana is not grunge, considering grunge is hardly a concrete genre and Nirvana's sound in large part defines it.

Their only grunge album

1. TAD
2. Nirvana
3. Cat Butt
4. Early-Mid 80s Melvins
5. Soundgarden
6. Malfunkshun
7. Alice in Chains
8. Mudhoney
9. Temple of the Dog
10. Swallow

OP actually nailed it. I might swap STP and PJ depending on my mood, but I think you're correct

>Cat Butt

Come on over tonight...

youtube.com/watch?v=cImvoCL_Sbs

1. Nirvana
2. Days of the new
3. Aic
4. Pearl jam
5. Stp
6. Soundgarden

2nd+ wave grunge power list:

Days of The New > Blind Melon > Silverchair > Our Lady Peace > Seether > Staind > Godsmack > Bush > 3 Doors Down > Creed > Foo Fighters > Puddle of Mudd

Based Melvin

none of those bands had a song as good as comedown, Bush were the absolute post-grunge kings

the nirvana hate is just glam autists, that's why they cling to the grunge acts with the most glam elements

actual 1- Alice Donut

1- Stone Temple Pilots (pic related)
2- Soundgarden
3- Pearl Jam (after ten, the first halves of binarual and riot act are really good. also they made foxymophandlemama)
4- Nirvana (more or less perfect and nevermind still has their best after you know youre right and sliver)
5- Alice in Chains (sunshine is one of my favorite songs but as a band they're not creative or varied as the above)

alice in chains btfo all of them in terms of creativity and variedness, what are you talking about

Based and TADpilled

>alice in chains btfo all of them in terms of creativity and variedness
oh yeah, they're so varied with their "slow hard rock song about drug addiction" and "other slow hard rock song about drug addiction" and who can forget "slow hard rock song about drug addiction"

Soundgarden > Nirvana > Pearl Jam >>> Alice in Chains >>> Stone Temple Pilots

>he's only listened to one alice in chains song

based op.

They’re not grunge, at least not in the vein of others mentioned in this thread. Generic rock to me is basically Nickelback, and Foo Fighters is no Nickelback.

Foo Fighters, NIckelback, and Green Day are literally generic rock in the flesh

FPBP. objectively correct

Smashing Pumpkins have no association with grunge whatsoever other than being another 90's american alternative rock band. They're much closer to shoegaze if anything.

Nirvana > AiC > Soundgarden > Melvins > Hole > Mother Love Bone > Pearl Jam > Skin Yard > Love Battery

Pumpkins one of the more dope bands of that time, would love to see them tour with Deftones

Yeah they were pretty much unstoppable up until 2001 tbqh
Hyped for the new Deftones album too

Fast hard rock songs:
>them bones
>dam that river
>godsmack

Acoustic:
>the entire jar of flies ep
>the entire sap ep
>the entire unplugged set (their best release)

Here's a few songs that don't fit that mold, user. Hope you enjoy. I sure know I do.

Love AiC but they are absolutely not more diverse than Soundgarden or Nirvana
