What guitar is everyone getting with their Trump checks? Or will you splurge it all on pedals?

r8 my gilmour strat
>mik squier II
>accurate pickups (SD SSL in bridge, pickups from a MIJ fender in the neck and middle)
>tbx tone control
only missing the shortened trem arm
don't have any interest in adding the little dp switch, cause gil never even uses that thing

>took backplate off my strat
>tone 10x better
How the fuck?

I think you're meme'ing yourself. Strat players are notorious for thinking they hear differences from doing absurd shit to their guitars. I had to put thin strips of foam inside my trem springs because they were creaky as fuck and the sound would come through the pickups. After that I put the backplate back on.

I had to swap out strat pickup for Gibson then dipped it in wax and screwed directly to the bridge...I had to wedge a quarter under the bridge to keep it flush with the body.

Maybe it’s the fact that with it open you kind of dampen the string swith your body but I feel like it acoustically sounds better without the plate for some reason. Lowering the pickups really helped my sound too.

If that actually does happen, might be into a Martin D-15M or Gibson J-45 Studio as I've never owned anything but budget acoustics. Or I might save some of it and used the rest towards an Orange Rocker 15.

for me, it has be an acoustasonic

>take off backplate
>stuff springs with paper towels
>put backplate back on

tone instantly 1000x better, the fuck?

I'm gonna send 5% of it to Sam's paypal. I suggest everybody to do the same.

LOL. poor cope.

that guitar should be in the Smithsonian...oh wait...it is.

Is the Orange Rocker 15 any good? Most people into Orange prefer heads like the Terror.

probably a better strat and a Taylor academy 10e if it’s a prolonged thing then maybe an axe fx 2 + tube amp head + cabinet

back when owning a gibbie was a distant dream and he owned a japanese copy instead.

heres another great guitarist and singer

Welcome, newfriend! How's quarantine treating you?

Strats, unlike Telecasters, require a little tweaking before being tonally optimal. With a Telecaster, it's so simple and flawless that you can grab nearly any one off the shelf and it'll be perfect. However, with the Stratocaster, you need to dampen the strings and lower the pickups for optimal tone. When you grab a Stratocaster off the shelf, it sounds like shit - that's why there's so many shitty sounding strats. People don't tweak them for optimal tone (tonetweaking). Once you tonetweak you get the classic strat tone of all your guitar heroes. At the very least lower your pickups to being nearly flush with the pickgaurd and take the backplate off. Trust me, it just works(TM).

official joke
get a decent mic ffs and quit scratching the strings

>thinking they hear differences from doing absurd shit to their guitars
you mean such as
>I had to put thin strips of foam inside my trem springs because they were creaky as fuck and the sound would come through the pickups.
?

why lower the pickups
why not lower them on a Tele

Salt lol

Idk but IME tele pickups come at pretty much just the right height but I lowered mine a little just for preference. With strats for some reason they're just way too fucking high and harsh. Dampening the springs helps with harshness too for some reason. When you lower strat pickups and dampen the springs that's when I noticed I got the iconic strat mellow tones and whatnot.

Great playing dude and nice cat

i think my tele sounds better with the pickups lowered but i cant lower them because that disgusting piece of shit of a tech couldnt install my middle pickup properly so if i lower the other two the middle is louder

for me, it's sinking the middle pickup and lifting the bridge one for that juicy tone

I like having them in ascending order from neck to bridge. Low neck, moderately high middle, high bridge.

Attached: IMG-1869.jpg (4032x3024, 1.73M)

I have the middle and neck low E at 5mm below the strings and the bridge low E at 4mm below.

Neck high E is at 5mm, middle high E at 4mm, bridge high E at 4mm. It sounds perfect to me. I think my preference is pretty fuckin low though compared to most people. I don't know why it sounds so juicy and thick at this low.

>puts a middle pickup on a tele
>calls other people disgusting

what do you think of nearly 6mm between the middle pickup's cover (not the poles) and the strings?

yes because i got sick of having too much guitars. now i have 1 guitar that does both jobs.

Honestly just do whatever sounds best because it relies on other factors like how high your strings are and what type of pickups you have. Take a screwdriver and plug it in and just strum chords clean until it sounds best to you. I'd say you always want to go lower than standard pickup height though, so start with them medium and go down. Completely flush is a little too low imo and gets muddy.

>like how high your strings are
ok, it's 5mm between the cover and the string, when i'm fretting the last fret. what do you say

is /gg/ familiar with this youtu.be/D7gMwE7phoM

If it sounds good then yeah. That seems impossibly low though now. When you're fretting?

My measurements are here but that's when I'm not fretting anything. If I fret it's more like 3mm~ish but they're almost flush too so I don't know how yours are so low unlses you have high action

You're a disgusting nigger.
Every time I take a shit I'm reminded you exist, but unfortunately I can't pull the chain and get rid of you

youtube.com/watch?v=cJzOIA4-9HA
Why is this shit so hard?

Glad someone out there loves them, because they might be the most hideous-looking guitars I've ever seen.

I've never owned an Orange (or even a tube amp), but I've heard nothing but good things. Seems like a very good all-rounder: natural channel sounds real clean and the dirty one looks to live up to its name. Leaning towards it because the versatility, power scaling (0.5/1/7/15W), and the fact that Orange amps look gorgeous. Only knock is that the natural channel only has volume (no EQ), but nothing that can't be solved without an EQ pedal or the tone knob on my guitars.

>Sam hates to see it

because classical guitarists mog regular kiddy guitarists so hard that its unbelievable

damn i thought mine was high. it bottoms out at 5mm pressed at the last fret, but it still is higher than the pickguard. i thought it was high because on my old strat copy i was able to get them lower than the pickguard. thanks for the input

are you the guy that i suggested ironically to get a bronco bass

Attached: bass.jpg (2340x4160, 821.92K)

I like this

>EET FUK

Has someone ever has gone beyond with eeting fuk to improve the tone? James has.

Lmao no. Who would ever buy a bronco.
I just own a piece of Fender history.
All be it a highly overlooked part of it.

I have eeten fuk, I was able to kakapick instantly
