Is this the best late period Devo?
My favourite albums are the Be Stiff ep, Duty Now and Hardcore Devo vol. 1.
Blockhead
oh, no! it's DEVO is definitely the best later-period album. Really underrated. It feels more DEVO than New Traditionalists and Freedom Of Choice. It's like they figured out how to reconcile their overusage of new technology with their old punk spirit.
Speed Racer.
>It feels more DEVO than New Traditionalists and Freedom Of Choice
Sold. That is pretty much the best sentence you could have wrote to convince me.
Does it still have the original drummer? I read somewhere he quit the band after Mark and Gerry started using drum machines to demo songs without him.

Alan is on this album, but unfortunately he is credited as "electronic drums".
So, yeah... The drums are pretty much all electronic, but not all stifff and programitically quantized. The spirit of the album is very energetic and dynamic... So much better than the previous 2 records.
Yeah. Alan left after the next album, "Shout", which was done almost entirely using the Fairlight CMI... with pretty much zero live instrumentation.
