I just don't see what's the point in bringing yourself down when you haven't even tried properly. That doesn't matter if your band is made up of cool people who you get along with. I learned to play drums from scratch while in my band. The recordings of our first jams are really bad but we had a lot of fun at the time. Now, I'm pretty good on drums and the band is pretty good.
We didn't sit around practicing until we were good at our instruments. We just went for it right from the start and had a good time.
