Post what you're looking for in feedback. Be specific if possible. GIVE feedback to GET feedback.
Post WIP's on Clyp.it or Vocaroo
DO NOT link to Soundclouds, Bandcamp, or YouTube etc- there are dedicated threads for posting them and anything resembling self promotion will result in bad feedback.
>what's wrong here well first off starting with the sample and nothing on it doesn't sound cool low pass some of your shit, too much high end damn man... sounds like you're trying to do too
>Here's my latest tune i've heard this exact progression/rhythm before fairly popular song right? I can't remember but somebody else surely will know it
Mason Morris
i made a dubstep/hardstyle hybrid idk if i should post it, i fear the mean anons that will bully me bcs >dubstep
Angel Edwards
nah there are still quite a few people here on it the people here who genuinely bitch about dubstep are the same people who "hate" trap and ambient and call everything braindead
did you use massive for this? I'm really not with it when it comes to edm so it sounds cool to me, but I think people who actually care would say this is pretty early 10s

How do I get into music production? I want to make and perform synth pop with vocals. Kind of confused about the hardware choices. Starting out, I’d like to avoid using a computer. Can anyone recommend the essential equipment id need to get started performing in my living room? Aside from the speakers. I was looking at the Minilogue, but I’m not sure what else I’d need.
Gavin Reyes
I really really hate brostep but this is pretty good for that style. snare is fuckin killer too.
Luke Moore
Why would you say something nice to dubbi?
Nathaniel Murphy
without a computer at minimum you'd need a synth, a good sequencer, a drum machine, a decent vocal mic and something to record all of that into
Ryan Richardson
>dubbi again with this shit? is everybody dubbi? is he an idea that represents everybody you don't like on Yas Forums or some shit?
nobody fucking cares about this faggot if he actually exist. fuck off and stop talking about him
Jace Robinson
:(
Jack Bailey
>synthesize your own drums >sit just right in the track
FEELS FUCKING GRATIFYING MAN
Carson Sullivan
thanks senpai. im not a big fan of brostep myself but with some hardstyle elements i think it sounds cool
Andrew Lewis
>is he an idea that represents everybody you don't like Everyone is just an idea that represents everybody I don't like. So fuck you.
I'm unironically depressed lads, I keep playing the same melodies and chords on my midi. I can't make anything new, I suck.
Noah Butler
try do a completely different genre than you normally do
Noah Taylor
Thank you for your service. I'm not promising anything but if I'm online and I remember, I'll try keeping it bumped.
Landon Brooks
there's a bit too much distortion or whatever that is on the sub bass. other than that, it's pretty generic and forgettable but not bad per-say production wise. you could add something unique that fits your style; it could definitely use some more layers (e.g. another melody in a higher octave with less velocity)
Owen Harris
my shift is around 7pm - 10am GMT
If somebody could split the day evenly somewhere in there that'd be cool. This is serious business guys.
Lincoln Rivera
This wouldn't be a problem if we had our own board
i like it, it's really stiff and robotic rhythmically which is interesting. but the bass pattern is a little repetitive. i think the clap should fall on the upbeat to mirror the un-syncopated feel of the bass i like the slidey synth. the triplet harp thing is kinda lame and passe at this point. i do like it however, the spooky feel. maybe focus on that idea in the rest of the track, it will make it seem a little less generic clyp.it/bijrlspn sorry for the length!
Jason Rivera
The last time we've talked about this I went through all the posts I could find on the archive and compiled a .txt file of all my arguments in favor of this, so I could distil them into one copypasta, make an image with it, and spread it around Yas Forums/4channel. But then I went to bed and forgot about it, so now it just stays on my desktop, reminding me of the failure I am.
Andrew Campbell
Sorry your mom wasn't available for some bitching at the time
Jacob Ramirez
The isolation and corona are kind of doing me good, somehow. Finally able to write something upbeat, more accessible and cheered up. Usually my music is quite tense, but this is just comfy. Raw jam, straight from the concept to sharing with you guys. clyp.it/s2hh44cs
You clearly haven't had your music stolen by him. Kinda ironic you're in a /prod/ thread but haven't been involved in the music making community on here. >inb4 but i am!! If you were then you'd already have him filtered.
Camden Cooper
stfu dubbi. we don't need another thread ruined. there's no music to be stolen here so you can leave.
>clyp.it/bijrlspn I really like it. It reminds me of Danganronpa.
0:34 i can hear the changes post drop, but I don't feel them. I feel cheated out. I would make this more dramatic
0:48 i would make the transition a bit harder
1:48 is fucking kino like fuuuuuuuck. It's the type of transition that really makes a difference. I would totally sample that
Another one like Danganronpa. Man if this is your upbeat music I'd love to see your other shit. I really like it. Sorry I don't have much to say. I find it very hard to critique ambient music. I feel that anything goes.
Sebastian Turner
i'm not dumbbi, just want you to fuck yourself. can you please?
Any of you guys have beat repeater plugin recommendations? I had the buffre when I used reason, but I cant find anything like it for ableton.
thanks in advance
James Butler
Is the dance music manual good? What is the point? Not hating but i'm just not sure why i need an explanation about what light trance or dubstep sounds like for example. Or does it explain how to make the common sounds in every genre or what? Not hating, just curious.
Eli Evans
Fuck off, spell dubbi's name the right way so I can filter your posts.
David Baker
>samefagging for clout in a thread with 18 posters on a board nobody cares about By far the most pathetic thing I've ever seen an user do.
>Another one like Danganronpa Is that a meme? What the fuck is Danganronpa and how can they possibly make music like the other one you commented on and my track? >I really like it That's cool, thanks a lot. I did too. >I find it very hard to critique ambient music. I haven't really settled on that track as ambient, although it is pretty minimal. But mostly it sounds like that because I made a quick arrangement-like thing just to share it. Was thinking of maybe adding details to the beat that create a groove with that simple template, and grows until it becomes something quite busy actually.
Cameron Hill
I am bambbi
Colton Jenkins
>Kinda ironic you're in a /prod/ thread but haven't been involved in the music making community on here. /prod/ is the only thread I touch on Yas Forums
should I be noided about getting stolen?? D:
one of these is me lol
>Is the dance music manual good? no. If you're brand fucking new to electronic music and haven't heard of a genre even in passing in your whole life then you might find some use for it.
i'm still convinced you're talking shit about yourself. Supposedly flaming yourself from an alt is a new form of self harm that's arisen in the past decade and nobody talks about it... hm hm hmmm
Grayson Turner
These are the chapters. If you don't care about the specific genres you can just ignore or skim them, but before those there'll be a lot of basic knowledge that every producer should know. It's up to you to choose between gaining that knowledge from this book or from elsewhere. I recommend the book because it's just faster to get it all in one place instead of a hundred different sources wih mostly overlapping content.
trying this shit for the first time.... used to making rap for the most part.
Elijah Rodriguez
How did that happen?
Andrew Ward
yea but i mean what does it tell you about those genres? does it just tell you what it sounds like or is it like a guide for building the sounds used in those genres?
Camden King
COOKING, using high tech instead of using a tried and true knife to slice potatoes. This just goes to shows that superfluous third party plugins are completely unnecessary and can distract you from the basics of cooking up a good mix.
Can’t tell yet how much flesh if any is gone but desu I’m fine lol. Right hand so it won’t fuck my fretting
okay it says that it takes you through different genres and through how to produce them. which i'm assuming means it teaches you the sound design methods for achieving certain sounds you might want to use. but that doesn't sound useless to me like said
Robert Evans
You don't have to read the whole thing if you don't want to. Just read the chapters about the subjects you need, and ignore the subjects you already know or don't care about. If all you want is basic production techniques, just read these in pic related.
how the fuck do you play chords and melodies. I have trouble remembering playing more than two chords and playing more than five different notes. I'm a beginner, is this normal?
Grayson Roberts
>I'm a beginner, is this normal? yeah man what did you expect? you internalize that information with practice, it'll be second nature to you eventually (:
