Thanks user
>pepperoni, jalapeno and mushroom
But why?
So I’m in the marker for a new neck because I got a busted truss rod. Are stainless steel frets a meme?
They wear your strings down faster. I’d say there a meme because normal frets last a long time anyway. I mean what the fuck are you doing that your frets just whittle away? Medium jumbos are also really big to begin with, vintage guitars had way smaller frets and you can whittle frets down a lot before they’re unplayable.
>keeps ordering and receiving guitars by the load
>(in reference to Corona-chan) "it's all fearmongering!"
Trogly confirmed retarded.
That’s kind of what I thought. I’m using cobalt strings right now, which are supposed to be harsher than typical strings, and my frets are fine
Rank em
fantastic topping combination
No Rudy Ayoub?
Why does fender make their instruments excessively long?
>34" scale basses
>25.5" scale guitars
Like, really?
No, you'll save a lot of money in fret crowning and eventual refrets assuming you actually gig.
They don't even change tone, and if they do it's so slight that EQ settings, cab characteristics, and venue acoustics override it (just like "tonewood")
But if you're a bedroom warrior or a gear whore who plays 30 guitars on rotation you'll never notice the difference in wear.
most people who get either strain of coronivirus only experience mild symptoms
bruh, everyone here is a bedroom warrior gearwhore that plays other peoples riffs all alone on a rotation of multiple shitplanks. it's why /gg/ spends hours talking about the subtle differences between two guitars using the same amp settings and nitpicking different factories paintjobs but nobody talks about playing actual music.
Let me just start this by saying Steve Terreberry is a genius, a brilliant musician and satirist in the vein of Frank Zappa or Captain Beefheart. His compositions are a perfect blend of complex yet simple and appeal to both plebs and patricians alike, almost effortlessly blending genres like instrumental metalcore, experimental country, post-shoegaze, and power jazz. His guitar-playing is fantastic; Chet Atkins himself would see Stevie as an equal. His avant-garde approach to tremolo picking, substituting fidget spinner for pick, has shaken up the art form the same way Hendrix did. His lyrics are wickedly satirical (Wipe Your Ass With Sandpaper, a subtle mockery of the perverse nature of metal artists) and yet can ask hard-hitting and thought provoking questions (Life In Virtual, a Lynchian masterpiece that revolves sociopolitical topics like police harassment and manipulation by mass media, as well as philosophical issues like the idea of free will and the very nature of human existence) handled in such a masterful way most great poets would blush. Even his online persona itself is a genius satire of the nature of guitar culture and it's roots in toxic masculinity; his nerdier personality is meant to stand in contrast to his douchebag contemporaries like Jared Dines or Rob Scallon and highlights how foolish they ultimately are with their fragile masculinity. Even his infamous exaggerated expressions are references to the dreaded "guitar face" which many guitarists are known to do while playing. tl;dr Stevie T is a genius that will go down as the definitive artist of this generation.
>all of this overpriced horseshit
>most of them have objectively worse designs than any ernie ball
guitarists who sperg out over designs usually can't play worth a damn and are too snooty to go to a guitar tech
>ugh, the upper fret access is so dated
>it still has a headstock? and it's not at least 4+2? sorry can't play this, it'll be out of tune after one chord
>why yes i did file my own nut
She’s so cute
its more like "wow this is fucking stupid that they're doing something that was fixed 40 years ago"
you're also paying extra for l i t e r a l l y nothing, if you had any knowledge of any industry that machines things more complicated than some shitty wood you would know this
>hey kirk, your guitar is broken. yeah i'm pretty sure that thing is borderline unplayable. they fixed those things 40 years ago.
Beatobros ww@?
>what the fuck are you doing, david? you don't have nearly enough frets to really get creative and there's a giant brick where the contoured neck-thru all access joint is supposed to be. also, your headstock is clearly poorly designed. even leo fender hates it now, the string lengths are all uneven so bending is harder on the higher strings. listen man, you're just not playing your best on that grandpa axe.
>ah, uh, you, whoever you are. now that's a proper guitar. nobody knows who the fuck you are except some nerds, you look like john mayer's gayer little brother, and your music is boring but at least your guitar is well designed.
Ernie Ball charges fucking thousands for planks of wood with magnets wrapped in wire screwed on. Harley Benton can make guitars that are just as good for 1/4 the price.
>iPhone 11
>Ultra high tech made with rare earth metals
>Technically a small bomb
>So intricate that the people who assemble them can not make a single mistake, or the device won't function
>$1000 even with chinese labor
>Typical "high end" electric guitar
>Two pieces of wood stuck together
>some metal wire screwed in, extra charge for steel instead of nickel
>some cast or automatically machined metal bits screwed on the ends
>$5 magnets wrapped in $5 of wire
>a mexican turns a few screws until it plays in tune
>most of it is so simple that many mistakes can be made without anyone knowing and tolerances can be massive
>even then everything important is done by a CNC machine that requires only loading, unloading, and minimal supervision
>$2000+
Why do people saying you cant shoegaze on a mustang? I can do the swoosh with just my palm on the tailpiece.
You complaining about guitars kind of sounds like the same deal with firearms.
>I don't like how expensive something is
>I must bitch about it
Nah what you want is this
>Fender ultra strat
>Extremely common, cheap north american hardwoods
>Body can be up to 3 pieces
>CNC made
>mexicans place screws in CNC-drilled holes
>neck angle is non-critical, guitar has a screw to adjust it even if the pocket is off
>neck fit is non-critical, it's screwed on not glued in
>painted with a paint that was chosen for how economical it is to apply
>made in a state of the art guitar factory
>$2000
>Gibson SG Standard
>Exotic hardwoods
>Body can be no more than 2 pieces
>CNC made, but neck tenon and pocket may not fit yet due to tolerance stacking
>neck angle and fit are critical, must be adjusted by hand with woodworking tools to achieve a strong, properly set joint
>Painstakingly glued together
>High gloss nitro finishes takes months between the repeated coats, drying time, and extremely risky buffing
>Headstock is veneered
>Neck bound by hand, binding then filed down to create fret nibs
>Largely made on 1950s equipment, yes, even the pickups
>$1500
the people making the iphone get paid 20 cents per hour.
Would you buy a guitar made by them?
you can get a guitar made by them, and unsurprisingly they work fine. with the same pickups as a boutique guitar and a good setup, they are indistinguishable.
Yeah but the fender has three humbuckers, I mean, N-1 noiseless single coils, and super futuristic shit like a corner shaved off the neck brick, so it's fine if it costs more.
>I like being ripped off
>Hmmm, somehow I think I can spin being jewed into a good thing
>The chad who gets jewed - The skeptical virgin who doesn't trust corporations
Why does a les paul cost $1000 more?
>Flame maple adds an extra $100 at the most, gibson has shitty bookmatching and AAA flame so probably less
>carved top is done on the CNC machine
>thicker piece of wood can't be that much more expensive, extra $50 at the absolute most
>sunburst is sprayed fast as fuck by a fat old lady that doesn't wear a respirator
>Doesn't understand how much capital goes into making a new product
>Doesn't understand how overhead works
Don't ever try to start, run or manage a business.
>American business expends excess capital on producing a product, using severely outdated processes and materials
>And then sneaks in a premium because it's the legendary american brand that made the only good product in the world back in the 50s
>NO PLEASE OVERPAY DONT BUY THE ASIAN PRODUCT DONT YOU LIKE AMERICA?
>WE DON'T HAVE TO STAY COMPETITIVE, YOU HAVE TO PLAY AUTHENTIC AND RESPECT TRADITION!
if you're gonna make someone an example post someone that has good tone and playing lmao
but they dont
Yeah, the "high end" guitar market spends way too much time and money on achieving results that are inferior to a woodcarving machine and then spends even more time trying to dupe people into believing tone voodoo.
and then the suckers who fell for it try and bring everyone else down with them
that's a nice acoustic. get a bass next user. I want a bass so much but I spent all my money on guitars.
Boomer tax. If you're stupid enough to want a singlecut electric guitar, you're stupid enough to give gibson an extra $1000 of pure profit.
Not that preying on the weak and stupid is a bad thing. Gibson is doing their part to ensure the people who deserve to remain poor do so.
>Why does it cost so much?!
>It's cut on a cnc machine!
>Then just assembled!
A lot more to it then that. Companies lose amount of money through scrap and down time. A lot of money is spent on paying people that don't actually make the company any money as in supervisors. I don't even want to go into how much it cost to run cnc machines.
And yet somehow, WMIC korea achieves the same quality results as PRS USA for half the cost!
>but the nitro tone paint
>its more fragile and will melt if you use a random guitar stand but its better because uh, paint chemistry effects tone
Because US based guitar companies are using wholly inferior processes and outdated materials for the sake of superstition and you're the sucker that pays for it.
You can't justify this. Your beloved "high end" guitars are only high end in terms of price, because the companies that produce them refuse to remain competitive. And they refuse to do so because morons like you will happily pay extra for a guitar that was made less efficiently, with pointlessly expensive materials. That nobody can tell are expensive, so it's a pretty far cry from being analogous to solid gold jewelry
can you explain the economics of an ultra strat costing twice as much as a performer strat?
PRS USA doesn't use nitro. That said I love my PRS SE custom 24 w/ floyd. My most expensive guitar was 600 btw.
not him but fender is stingy as fuck. That said their cheaper models are really nice unlike gibson. I have a 600$ fender black top jag that I love.
retard tax to punish people for thinking this will make them play better
when people who actually play up there have been using this since the 80s
>Not understanding the start up cost of new products
>New body cuts and neck profiles take new cnc programs
>These new programs require time for someone to make and test
It's really not fucking hard to understand.
ebay.com
are these electric guitars any good for a beginner?
No. get a squier or epiphone. the one you posted are the same as those shitty glarry guitars.
You are massively over estimating the cost of such simple changes to CNC programs. it takes less than 30 minutes. Especially if it's heavily based on something that already existed, and everything in the ultra strat was something Fender already did elsewhere. They just threw the parts together.
If you ever spent one day as a CNC operator or opened a CAD program once in your life you'd shut up. They're jewing you, and hard. Fancier body shapes can't justifiably influence price on a CNC made guitar.
And fender employees aren''t exactly well paid. lots of them are making $17/hr. People in fucking cereal plants and shitty night shift warehouse jobs are making $20+. Why? Unions, that's why.
Fender. Is. Full. Of. Kikes. Big corporation bad. They aren't justified. They aren't doing their best. They don't care about you. The only part of your life that matters to them is the most you will spend and how they can manipulate you into letting that number drift a little higher. In case you're too young to remember this shit, they raised their prices significantly right in the middle of the great recession and left them there.
i wonder what sam is doing rn (right now)
>big corporation bad
no way the corporations are our friends, they try their hardest to make their products as affordable as possible. the CEOs making enough to pay their employees extra while still being rich as fuck are just taking their fair share. they earned it!
Having no friends irl (in real life)
didn't gibson close an entire factory to get rid of a union so they wouldn't have to provide pay raises and benefits?
>if you ever spent a day on cnc
Literally work with mori seikis all day every day bud. I don't think you ever worked with an actual cnc machine not some cheap ass fucking toy. The cost to run and maintain these machines is a lot of money. A fucking basic kenna metal 3in form cutter is $800 new. I work for a company that makes $400-$2000 product like fender. The cost to make a new product and the time involved is ridiculous. It's not like "oh hey im gonna fuck with a program and make something new" the amount of bureaucracy involved is asinine.
Your advertising is too obvious. The fact you have to anyhow means how much you actually suck
>my dad works at nintendo
lol
Saved
You work metal, fender works wood. It's exponentially cheaper. Companies like fender and gibson are also a lot less formal than you assume. I worked at Gibson for 7 years as a sup. We're talking $100 end mills, not $800 end mills, and they're not always replaced in a timely fashion especially if they're cutting a cavity the customer will never see or something along those lines, and design? There's not a lot of bureaucracy at guitar companies. It's was more or less henry J is in charge, of everything, period. Designing new products got done fast and cheap.
WMIC and Cort also work wood, and they produce higher quality products for less because they aren't 1: kicking it 50s style or 2: riding off the popular belief that they are. Even if cort payed first world wages for a first world cost of living their guitars would still cost hundreds, sometimes thousands less than gibson (dated) and fender (jews).
I need to change my strings soon
WMIC pays their employees a living wage (korean equivalent to making $17/hr in the US) and has no problem undercutting fender prices by hundreds while beating them in technological advancement years before fender made the fender suhr, i mean, fender utlra series.
WMIC can't leverage the boomer tax
>Well strats have always costed that much
>It's American made, you get what you pay for
>Fender: Actually cut production costs more each and every year since the first year of production
But in a while, they will.
>A schecter has always costed that much
That's what companies do. They reduce costs, but keep prices the same, higher, or only slightly less depending on what marketing thinks is the best move, and increase sales volume and output to match (but never to exceed by more than a planned amount).
I'm being too picky here but form cutters are not end mills. And who knows what tooling supplier or tooling setup they use.
There is bureaucracy in any large company. A lot of money is spent paying people who don't make the company any money. Aka supervisors and managers. Too many chiefs not enough indians situation. Overhead gets quite nasty with large companies too. There is more to it then just the price tag which you fail to realize. Like I said I work for a company that makes products in fenders price range. The cheap products are made using the same process as the expensive ones. It's how business run shit.
>$17/hr is a living wage
lol will poorfags ever learn
>this nigga let a Korean factory get to his head
Lmfao. I wonder why.
I don't know shit about metal, man, and you don't know shit about guitars. And thank you for finally admitting that corporations live off jewing people.
Now, are you going to let yourself get jewed, or are you going to polish the turd like a bad goy?
if you guys want to talk jews explain why being slightly more historically accurate is worth an extra $300
