Considering what Ringo was, his solo career was more than adequate. If anything, John had the most disappointing solo career.

Axl Rose

dj dubbi lmao

Are there any pictures of her before hairdye and probably eyebrows

Billy Corgan

>Implying it's not McCartney

yeah i agree. the only exception is this cover but it's already a perfect song

...

was just thinking about this the other day and decided on lou reed. his albums were spotty as hell though

Fuck off, Berlin and New York are masterpieces

coney island baby is full of classics, too. the raven isnt bad either

his later stuff is crap but it's well worth berlin/coney/new york

Sting

Carl and Pete from the Libertines both made some of the most mediocre rock music after the initial split.

Ozzy. Sabbath was lightning in a bottle and he's a vital component to their sound, but he simply did not have the talent or creativity to lead compelling solo act. He would be nobody without his charisma and Sabbath cred. His image and and ability to surround himself with talent vastly outweighs his artistic ability. He was a victim of the tropes and conventions he helped establish and his music ended up being extremely generic as a result.

>He would be nobody without his (insert group) cred
that's the whole point of going solo innit

I've always said you could team Ozzy up with a mediocre stonerrock band & ppl would be blown away at the "comeback"
Ozzy's success is diametrically opposed to taking chances

True but you never hear any real praise of Ozzy beyond his vocals. Plenty of artists (Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop, Phil Collins, Beatles members, etc.) have recieved acclaim for their solo work and independent artistic merit. Ozzy gets some praise for his vocals, but he's mostly known for establishing a cheesy metal aesthetic and lmao drugs.
Agreed. He's been resting on his laurels for 4 decades, but he too entrenched in pop culture to be subject to real scrutiny from the mainstream.

Even if she did I feel bad for her because she was abused in the one musical act she will always be associated with.

how old are you? ozzy is one of the most legendary frontmen in all music. he's such a fucking character. standing on stage shouting: "clap your hands!" is not that impressive. but standing on stage shouting: "clap your fucking hands!" followed by everybody immediately clapping is.

Exactly my point bruh. Dude was charismatic as hell and his image was inimitable. Notice how you aren't remarking on how genius or original his solo career is? Because it ain't. Ozzy was a great performer and he was a perfect fit for the rest of Sabbath, but as a musician he was strictly mediocre in the context of his circumstances.

>implying transformer's not overwhelmingly his best album

I think you've missed the point of Ozzy's solo career. You dont go to the circus to watch the ringleader. Even ignoring all that came later, Randy Rhoads was a phenomenal guitar player who (in mainstream terms anyway) bridged the gap between the pyrotechnics of Van Halen and the faux-classical precision of the Shrapnel shredders. Ozzy's solo career showcased some incredibly talented individuals, and Sharon as his manager knew that he suited best as the figurehead rather than the attraction itself

This. Amazing how he never made anything worthwhile without Moz.

it is not you pleb. Asides from Vicious, Perfect day and like three other tracks the rest is boring as fuck

filtered. It's a near-perfect album, and every song is at the very least very good. It's far more consistent than New York or Coney Island Baby or The fucking Raven.

Transformer, Berlin, Coney Island, Street Hassle, The Bells, Blue Mask, Legendary Hearts, New Sensations and New York are all four-star albums at least. Lou Reed had a great career.

David Byrne

Morrissey

Garfunkel. He must be so bitter how much Simon's solo stuff overshadowed his.

Well, there was that one record at least. That's far better than the late stage Ozzysabbath discography combined. Next record was confused, and after that as you said.

And we’re just gonna ignore that other record ? You know, MMM ?

OP is brain dead. As per the multiple examples in this thread of people supporting Reed but forgetting other great albums he's released, reed's solo career is provably excellent

Haley Williams

It's not a four-star record.

Hayley got cucked by a wigger hobbit

The first 2 HFB albums were better than all Oasis albums after Morning Glory
His last album and the new EPs sucked though

>disappointing
Only the Imagine single probably flooded his pockets with cash, gee he must have been so disappointed

Garfunkel

I don't judge music based on how much it sold, I base it on its quality. And yes, compared to his work in The Beatles, his solo career is disappointing.

imagine having this opinion

Don't be nasty. David's great.

Worst full stop or worst compared to their associated act? For the latter I'd say Art Garfunkel

Mastah Killah

Most rap artist from a group.

Wu tang
Odd future
ASAP mob
Tribe called quest
G unit
Etc

most of wu-tang had pretty successful solo stuff

Alan Price

Greg Lake
