Any musicians here stuck in self-isolation wanting to have a little fun?
I wanted to play a game of musical telephone, where I'll record a really simple beat of just bass and drums, then send it to another musician who will add an element to it, and then send it to another musician who will add a layer on top, and this will keep going until we have a completed song. Depending on how long we're all stuck inside, we could come up with a decent amount of material. Anyone interested?
Damn user, sounds like a wonderful idea, it's like jazz but less improvisational (still focuses on all players getting a part of the tune) I'd be happy to pitch in with some harmony.
Think the BPM is like 132. As well as adding more layers, feel free to extend it, chop sections up, clean up the mix, whatever you feel like doing!

Am this guy, I can't record rn cuz it's 1 am where I live and I have neighbors but I'll check in tomorrow, maybe we could even make this a tradition of sorts for the more musically involved people on Yas Forums, have a good one lads!
vocaroo.com/o2Bd18QMvyf I added a rap verse from a generator website over the original beat. If anyone feels like adding some kind of synth arpeggio to that part, I think it would fit well.
Levi Hughes
yung user go off
Josiah Cruz
hahaha thanks user, i just felt the original beat would work well with a verse
last contribution, I sped up the original beat and added another verse. The key is shifted up a fifth for anyone wants to add instruments to the last part or the middle verse. vocaroo.com/aAwpI5TCwsB

This track could end up being an albums worth of variations on the original beat if this reaches the bump limit. That would be cool.
Nathaniel Wood
We should try making a whole album like this, would be fun. Kinda like the Yas Forums makes an album threads but we all contribute to each track instead of just individually making a track each. If you guys are down im down, will start working on something when i get home.
Henry Perry
Shit I'd do it, that sounds really fun. I could make a Soundcloud to upload it to.
Eli Reed
I got a bandcamp i made to upload albums from the make an album threads if you wanna use it, otherwise could just make a new one. Might be better to make a fresh thread so ppl know whats going on, then just link it here so we can move over.
Ryan Hill
If this tracks gets finished I'll download the final version, make a soundcloud for it and then start a thread for songs like this.
I'm thinking I could just mix the existing tracks a bit. I'll give it a go chief
Asher Powell
very cool, glad people are contributing. i really like the idea behind this thread.
Nathaniel Stewart
Does this track have a name yet? If not, I suggest the name Self-Isolation.
Chase Harris
That should be the album name (and theme?)
Noah Barnes
I'd be cool with that. I am indeed in self isolation so I'd be able to contribute often.
Kevin Wilson
Holy shit guys
OP here, I went to bed last night but I totally wasn't expecting anything like this when I woke up this morning. Good job fellas! Pretty fucking whacked-out stuff. Really loving the use of samples. Shall I post another beat?
James Morgan
yeah do it, i'm rap verse user and i'm gonna go to bed soon. if the thread is alive when i wake up i'll contribute

Bymp
Eli Morales
I can't isolate the tracks as they vary a bit in BPM :c I was going to try to add some echoes to the samples. I'll just add some instrumental contribution
Brayden Johnson
lmao meant to send this as a reply to
Carson Thompson
both of those are me but i get your point user kek, there's a lot of sonic space to fill out in this track. i'm gonna set an alarm for like 11 and i'll check this thread. going to bed now/
OP here, another beat incoming! If anyone is familiar with Serial Experiments Lain, you might be interested to know that a lot of the samples are taken from there. The pedal chords are sampled from the hum of the powerlines, and all of the glitchy samples are taken from the intro. Thought it was a fitting anime to work with since its all about losing your sense of self while being locked inside on your computer.
I call it "Serial Experiments Lain (Perpetually) In Bed". BPM is 109. Have fun!
Samuel Martinez
I'll start working on something now
Juan Young
trips of dankness, whatever you make will be cool now. i like this one a lot, i could add a verse when i wake up
Hunter Cook
Dope digits, looking forward to hearing what you come up with. Btw I think a big ol guitar solo would fit in really well at the breakdown at 2:03, I will throw one down once you've posted your version
