Trying to make a key change from A to C work, but I dont know much theory for that use besides dom7 and dim chords, but even for those I cant find a place to insert them that will sound good.

The current MIM strat pickups sound pretty good to me. Don't expect a huge change from any aftermarket strat pickups.

they seem fine but using only the bridge pickup introduces a little too much hum for my taste

Nah, I'm starting at the bottom, as far as 9s go. I'm experimenting changing from 11s, so I figured I'd try out a few brands.

Let me know how the Rotos are. I love the bass strings but the guitar strings are harder to come by.

Also I tried those DRs. They were corroded out of the pack.

I ran those very DRs in 11s for years and never had a problem. I threw them in for shits and giggles. I've put the Darcos on and they're ok. I used half the 12 string set to string up a guitar nashville tuning.
