who the fuck uses anything but heavy picks with sharp tips?
change the p to a d
I prefer the super thin ones for the fuhfufhfuh sound
huh? you've been playing for two months? congratulations
I just play with nigs
fender heavy chads chime in
Red Nylon Jazz III or fuck off
and break all your fucking strings unless you're using heavy gauge
No one has ever actually had this problem
Don't be so heavy handed
Used to play with 2mm picks, but for whatever reason started using 1mm ones once I needed to use heavier gauge strings. Feels pretty good to be honest, a little bit less bulky while comfortable for lead parts.
Always
For me it's the
DUNLOP JAZZ III
I also use magnum condoms
D U N L O P
i used to think this. keep playing and it will seem preposterous. it's possibly some issue with the bridge or nut, or you're hitting it retardedly hard. for me it was worn out saddles. i spent two weeks being neurotic about my picks and technique before realizing this simple thing, paying attention to where the string was breaking.
all of you are plebs compared to me
fucking gross!
You ain't trying hard enough.
Take the fingerpickpill
If you're not playing primarily fingerstyle tunes, you don't even need long ass nails. I just leave my pointer middle and ring nails a tad longer, barely noticeable.
Maybe it's worse for tone but I don't really care lol

It;s nice and thick in the fingers, the beveled edge is smooth on the strings (no slap like a lot of other picks) and the teardrop shape is (for me personally) more comfortable than a jazz pick.
Seriously, if you like jazz picks, dunlop flows, or other small picks, try these out.
Isn't hybrid picking the best of both worlds? the sharp attack and tremolo ability of a plectrum with the range and control of fingerstyle.
Fender extra heavys are a joke. What are they like 1.5mm? I wouldn't call a pick heavy until you get in the >3.5mm range
it always felt weird to me having the pick attack on the bass note and the flesh sound on the higher notes
Fair enough. I think it depends on the style. Personally I find it sounds great when playing neoclassical metal or prog when hitting those wider intervals. the piano-ish sound of hitting all the notes at once is juicy with some distortion.
yeah i think i tend to just whack or rake over that sort of thing with good muting, impact, hendrix like, but that's a cool way too, much more precise
based, those are great. I like the jazz III style ones they make too.
>not using thumbpicks
i think not.
Just how thick are the Fender picks? I'm assuming heavy is 1.5 and extra heavy is 2. I always found Dunlop more comfortable though.
ur grandpa would be disappointed user
I used to play with these and never thought twice about it. Switching to 1mm+ changed my fucking life.

Picks? Hahahahaha.
>oh i lost my pick can't play tonight fellas. Oh you can lend me a pick, wait Im not used to these picks.
Bunch of simps on this board honestly.
I have a friend who uses these. Get fucked.
based
What's the benefit of thicker picks? I don't think I've ever tried anything heavier than 1.0, currently using Herco 0.75 nylons.
Use your fingers.
Nice pecs
been liking this boy lately
I use Jazz III XL picks but I have super dry hands and they keep slipping away
I use whatever I’ve managed to accidentally collect over the years
I only use these and play with extra light guitar strings
tonefags SEETHING
I picked up a dunlop jazz iii off the floor of our old rehearsal space and never looked back. I dont even want to ever try another pick, this is perfect
no, do both
But
I do
It’s like you guys aren’t even trying…
dunlop primetone sculpted plectras
Jazz III actually suck ass. There's much better for both strumming and soloing.
This is the only pick I use at this point. It's perfect.
>every single note is muffled scraping without definition
I have literally never used a pick. It just seems like such a foreign concept to me. Needlessly restrictive when you can use all of your fingers and obtain a bigger variety of tones than you could ever achieve with a pick, whether your picking with your fingernails, strumming aggressively with the backs of your fingernails or brushing gently with the side of your thumb.
that's not an "extra heavy pick" op
>this is
Just right.
>slippery fender shit
>not based Tortex
Back to redit fag
Explain how
>Not the .71mm purple dunlops with the alligator graphic
Cringe
>strumming aggressively with the backs of your fingernails
I would love to hear an example of you doing this because the way you describe it sounds exactly like your favorite band- disgusting.
oof
I bought a pack of these when I was like 16 and it was my first time buying picks. I'm pretty sure they were on sale or just cheaper than the others........ or maybe I was retarded and didn't realize they were different and I just thought they were different colors. Anyway, they're fucking dogshit and whenever I tell my guitar playing friends I once bought a pack of those they always laugh.
>Explain how
Much more comfy
Much more durable
Led to me playing more and more confidently
