Where is the Jay Electronica album? I need something for the boomer in me
tidal
Oh it is. Is it only on Tidal?
as far as I know yeah. Waiting on some user to post that there mega :^)
Spotify was promoting it on their Twitter yesterday so I'm sure it'll be up on there eventually.
Probably a bunch of Nation of Islam bullshit. This dude is a straight up nincompoop.
Well Chakras is way worse than the Original Selah
wish you weren't right
nobody asked. go to bed school tmrw
dios mio...
do americans REALLY?
Yeah it's unfortunate. They're like the black version of Scientology in terms of their culty ridiculousness. I don't really give a shit if he believes in that stuff. I just wish he kept it out of the music.
Crazy that this dropped and no one cares because it's only on Tidal.
Who in the world thought that was a good idea?
Tidal is the superior quality sound choice for all streaming.
Jay Z. I care but I can't hear it. I guess I'll check it out in a week, if it leaks and I remember. I'll set a reminder on my phone for it.
Network effects.
No one is switching to Tidal, the period of peak market diversity has passed in the Music Streaming Industry. Interchangeable products in realms where network effects apply create a tendency toward monopoly.
I'm surprised Spotify and Apple Music are still co-existing.
Video streaming has gone the opposite way due to the nature of licensing and the complexity and cost-intensivity of production.
Also no one cares about the difference between 256 and 320 kbps nevertheless FLAC.
Same boat.
Initial hype matters though and they messed up by not capitalizing on the hype of such a long-awaited release.
You do if you're not poor.
Tidal is better than Apple and Spotify for dance music, black music in general. Sorry you guys are missing out. Enjoy your Beatles though!
Well I'll give it a listen now then.
Hate that you had to be race-obsessed.
No one is oppressing you.
Enjoy your freedom.
I love you regardless of your race or musical maladies.
Obsessed? How? I said nothing about you white folk and your dead music. Love you too Nigel!
>dance music, black music
It's all yours, buddy.
That's all there is now, sherlock. Enjoy!
>no music other than dance music or black music exists.
Enjoy all that 20th century music! There's so much!
...
I'm not white, I just don't think race is a determinant of who you are as a person, nor do I think a colour of skin should necessarily be tied to a culture.
People of all colours have done better than ever under "white" western civilization than they ever have under POC cultures. I'm thankful I live in the west and not in Africa or the Caribbean where I'm from genetically. Those places are disasters and no it's not because of colonialism or the White Man.
Nice, what does this have to do with Tidal having better sound and a better library, owned by a black man?
Jay Z has more verses on this album than Jay Electronica.
Don't waste your time mang, it doesn't live up to Exhibit C. Fruits of the Soul isn't bad but the rest is pretty mediocre. Plus Jay-Z is shitting up like 75% of the tracks
Yaaaay
Brrrrrrrrrr
Why are those sound effects everywhere?
Why is Jay all over this anyway. He doesn't believe any of the shit that Jay Electronica believes in.
>Better Sound
As we established, irrelevant to 99.99% of the consumer base.
>Better Library
What exactly does Tidal have that Apple Music does not?
>Owned by a black man
If your choice of which music streaming service to patronize is influenced by the colour of the owner's skin doesn't that make you racist?
Is that not discrimination based on prejudice?
Maybe you should evaluate what motivates this impulse in your thinking.
Seriously what the fuck is wrong with Jay Electronica? Exhibit C was an amazing track when it dropped but he did nothing to capitlise on it. Is he retarded?
Shiny Suit Theory is on this?
He wasn't ready for the attention or to capitalize on it. Just Blaze dropped it out of the blue during one of his shows and it caught on like wildfire. It wasn't planned or premeditated by Jay Electronica at all, so you can't blame him for that; even Just said that.
And it's on Apple Music and Google Play Music for those wondering why it's Tidal-exclusive.
>better library
They don't have any exclusives lol. Even Jay Z's shit is on Spotify now lol.
Imagine falling for blatant bait and typing out something so cringeworthy.
get off Yas Forums my black brother before it is too late
Back in 2009-2010, there was a big bidding war for Jay Electronica between Bad Boy (P Diddy's label) and Roc Nation (Jay-Z's label). Jay Electronica was looking like he was gonna blow up, his Eternal Sunshine mixtape got a lot of attention and then Exhibit A and Exhibit C were super fucking hot.
Then he pretty much dropped off the map, couldn't put together anything more than a random single every once in a while. Everyone kinda bought into his hype/mystique and let it slide and it just snowballed. He said that he had an album ready in 2011 but who knows; he also said that he was struggling with alcoholism and drugs for a while.
Honestly I wonder if Jay-Z was basically babysitting him on every track to try and get the album out, or if Jay Electronica only recorded like half an album of material.
Idk, I think he really squandered his career. Huge bummer too, because some of the stuff he put out was really incredible. Could have been the best of the decade if he managed to replicate the kind of stuff he was doing on Exhibit A and Exhibit C.
>go to bed school tmrw
they cancelled school cuz of the rona
I wonder if his deal with Jay Z has some sort of expiration and Jay Z was just trying to squeeze something out of him.
I wonder how old the songs on this album really are and you are probably right about Jay having to babysit him through every track which would explain why he's on 8 of the 9 songs on it From the way Erykah Badu talked about Electronica, she laughed at the thought of him ever releasing an album so I don't know if he squandered it. Didn't he also break up the marriage of some billionaire too? He was busy just not with making any music. There was a time with Exhibit C though, he could have been on top of this industry at that point.
Why does people only talk about Exhibit C like this doesn't exist?
youtube.com
>Didn't he also break up the marriage of some billionaire too?
Yeah some Rothschild hoe
niggas waited how many years for this
He really was something. I changed my mind, he did squander his career.
Maybe his split with Erykah Badu just really fucked him up
Love that Dilla Beat from Gazillion Ear. I almost forgot about that track. Great bars.
But yeah. Even with this new album, Jay Elec will go down as the best that never was.
curse of Erykah strikes again
you guys dont like this? its great.
I wouldn't know because the poopfaggots at Spotify don't have the album. I'm tryna get converted to the fuckin Nation of Islam or whatever stupid shit Jay Elec is pushing.
He seems to have convinced Jay Z to become a muslim
Interesting.
Those black Muslims they got in the United States think they're the lost tribe of Israel or some shit. They also seem to be hella racist and especially hate Jews for some reason. I'm not American so this shit makes no sense to me.
It literally starts with Farrakahn asking where the lost children of Israel are kek. I don't know why they think this anyway, makes no sense to me either.
i'm not going to lie, i would like to have a child or a couple of children with a rich woman
Even better if one got me preggers
Are you actually a Jay Electronica fan? He wears this shit on his sleeve, pretty hard to ignore that and still be a fan.
Here's the dl if anyone needs it. And yes it's legit.

Not the same guy but I respect his creativity and skill as a lyricist/rapper. I still enjoy most of his stuff even if that nation of islam shit bugs me a little bit.
I was kinda foolishly hoping that he'd stay away from that stuff for such a big commercial release with Jay Z. Still a pretty good album though.
