why the fuck does every record store ive been to had some pretentious ass owners blasting king crimson and other prog non stop. ive been exclusively buying my records online or at mall stores because of these "music fans" thinking theyre above everyone else because of buying MOTHERFUCKING VINYLS in 2020AD or knowledge of entry level jazz or rock or some shit

Senpai you stupid as fuck. Go buy your Vinyl at Amazon or some shit then. I will continue to buy my shit off the little man cause I am based as fuck
>tfw the two better record store in town are run by a former DJ who knows his dub and his trip hop in the one hand, a jazz clarinetist who closes early on gig day on the other hand
it's neat
Go to Urban Outfitters to buy it then, they'll be playing Lame Impala or something so you won't have to listen to King Crimson.
Welcome to prog fans
this literally reads as if your favourite mac demarco and brockhampton album weren't available, and you're completely ingoring the social aspects of going to a record store.
I fucking wish my record store played prog all the time. It's always either shitty hiphop or hipster trash.
go to urban outfitters so you can listen to your mac demarco you dumb zoomer
>social aspects
Ive been going to austin record stores for well over a decade
What social aspects
>social aspects of going to a record store
What are the social aspects? I've been to plenty of record stores but I just browse through the records and buy some. I don't know about any social aspect. The only exception was when the boomer working in one of them made small talk about cabaret voltaire.
>go into record store
>old beat up copy of ITCOCK if being played through out the store
>shelves littered with pink floyd, led zeppelin and old country records
>ask the boomer behind the counter if they have any ween
>he looks at me with a awkward half smile
>lol who.jpeg
>tells me i should check digcogs
>"you can find anyone on there thats where i found my original led zeppelin 1"
>yeah t-thanks
>look around a bit and leave empty handed
i fucking hate record stores so much sometimes bros.
>
lmao get filtered by superior taste nerd
I worked at a mall record store and we needed to play SFW. You eventually just end up at the experimental but still normie stuff like prog because your listening to so much music a week you get bored with stuff
I only remember getting 5 complaints while working there
>alexisonfire - 44. Caliber Love Letter
>One Day as a Lion - Wild international
>chuck mangione - land of make believe
>justice - (was playing all of cross)
>grouper - Sleep (after store close but customers wouldn't leave)
Guy at my store is a big Ween fan. I bought Godweensatan there for $25 and had a big conversation about what Ween shows he's been to
this reads as i am completely disgusted by prententiousness of subhumans called music fans, just play some ambient or drone for passive listening and do not brag about being better than everyone else
>blasting king crimson and other prog non stop
Pretty based, my local record store is always playing generic indie shit.
based
The social aspects are me having to hit them a rap in the mouth for getting familiar with me. I don't want your fucking opinions you onions lepers, sell me the cunting record and shut the fuck up.
You're mad because you walked into a record store and they were listening to King Crimson?
King Crimson and prog is generally based, but prog fans are the most insufferable pseud cunts only rivaled by metal fans.
I love the record stores in my area. Dont get really pretencious fag owners mostly chill people that respect others opinions thankfully. There are some that think that because you are in your early 20s buyin records you re a hipster I just avoid those and are in the minority
Name every record store you've ever been to or you're a fucking liar.
I fucking wish I could find a store with as much prog as you claim aside from this beautiful gold mine I found by total chance in Tokyo.
>king crimson and other prog non stop.
Kek. I was vinyl jockey for a while and yes, my boss played prog and Zappa non-fucking stop. He was also overweight , did nothing to improve himself, and blamed republicans for every personal problem he had. After his Trump derangement syndrome went full-bore, his shop went out of business. Banning customers for life simply for not voting Bernie. Last I heard, he was forced to sell his house to settle his debt and that his elderly mother had to start paying rent for his new tiny apartment.
Thank you for reading my blog.
>Banning customers for life simply for not voting Bernie.
Do americans really do this? How would he even know they didn't vote for him?
every record store I've been to has 1 of 2 types of owners
1) dudes who used to be in bands and are usually chill
2) randos who look up anything and everything on discogs even if it's a popular album like Young Americans or something just to try and charge an extra 5-10
He's lying you fucking moron.
Idk if you live in Japan but disk union here is very based. The big one in Shinjuku has everything.
Old fag here. Glad I dumped my vinyl back when CDs arrived, and I'm just laughing at the forced euphoria from you youngfags over it. It's your turn. Haven't been in a record store in so long, i don't even know how long it's been, and I can hit up plenty, in the Bay Area.
'B-but vinyl sounds-" Yeah, yeah, youngfag. Heard it all before you were born. Keep thinking it sets you apart from all the other chimp brains running around this mudball. That's what being young, dumb, and full of cum is all about. You'll see, you're gonna get old like the rest of us, and laugh at the new kids running around being dumb and obnoxious. Enjoy the smell of your farts and your euphoria, while it lasts. We did.
There is a married couple who run the store I go to in Philly and it’s pretty awesome. They play a lot of post-punk, jazz, and industrial- to be fully honest, none of it is my speed. However, the husband is always able to offer me some advice on some folk albums or some descriptions of albums that I think look cool but have never heard before- it’s so enjoyable having this connection with the guy where folk and related sub genres ain’t his speed but, simply by virtue of knowing so much about music generally, he is able to steer me in the right direction.
The other store is Repo Records which is also pretty great as I have found a bunch of John Fahey and Robbie Basho among other oddballs, but it’s much larger and less personalized though there was this old guy who recommended Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Record store owners are some of the biggest assholes you will meet. Honestly.
who cares about record stores anyway? there all going to die off anyway from the corona depression
>some pretentious ass owners blasting king crimson and other prog non stop
Oh no. They're playing music they like. The horror. For some reason this is enough reason to get you to stop going to record stores.
It varies from person to person, sometimes in the same store
Lying on a music board doesn't get you brownie points.
just go to another record store, dumbass faggot
The second guy is obviously a Steve Hoffman forum poster
ive met lots of cool store owners you seem like a pleb tbqh
my record store mainly plays metal
Yeah, man. I am really friendly with the staff at mine. They even give me a call when something up my alley comes in used. I've gotten a bootleg Darkthrone/Mayhem split because of this. Be a human and communicate.
>That foreign Close to the Edge cover
Fucking awesome
I live close to LA (in Long Beach) there’s so many cool record shops out here.
>Twelves
Specializes in Funk, Soul, and Jazz. Almost All Original Copies. It seems to be a cultural black record shop, but it’s an awesome front
>Third Eye Records
Incredible selections of Psych, Post-Punk, Industrial, Surf. The owner is the nicest guy I’ve ever met. Has a very vast taste.
>Amoeba/Fingerprints
Basically Costco/Walmart for albums.
OP btfo
Watch this if you want some record store snob kino
the record shop closest to me is totally pleb tier. only stock super famous classic albums like ziggy stardust and rumours and new chart music.
That indeed was the disk union in Shinjuku. I travelled to Japan for an engineering competition and my team wanted to go to the cat cafe next door. That's when I caught sight of a store boasting a whole floor of prog. I snapped up UK's Night After Night, Eddie Jobson's Green Album, and The Rotter's Club I didn't realize that the latter two were easily available digitally, but the former was definitely a find. Whenever I make my way back, I gotta see if they've got Gradually Going Tornado and Theme of Secrets.

why do you let other people get to you so much?
local owner plays obscure folk and blues
>loves prog and punk and will chat with me about pretty much anything I buy
his kooky stories are too entertaining. I knew he was a cool guy when I found sweet nighter in the bargain bin and he said "ooh, this is a TRIPPY one" very seriously. he's pretty out of touch with new music which turns out benefitting the store
those big organizer cards w/ clear font - so fucking cozy
The owner of the store in area will play metal for me whenever I come in, even if drives away potential customers. Sometimes we'll listen to dark wave stuff too or weird shit like Klaus Nomi.
tfw no record store near me...
They are pretty chill, as to your hate to the owners records are a hardcore music snob hobby these owners have subjected themself to so much gusic that they think they know everything in between.
>tfw it's gone forever
have some of my best memories wandering this store alone many weekends as a kid while my family went to china town
nice I've always wanted that type of friendship
>owner of favorite store is in legendary punk band
>get starstruck and never be able to hold conversation when he is in the store
Visit smaller or specialized ones.
I visit Mikko Aspas store from time to time
sarvilevyt.fi
Real olden times shady small store filled to the brim with CDs, vinyls, porn, books, t-shirts, patches and such. Always some Black Metal or Power Electronics or Ambient in the background.
You wont find any rap/hiphop or pop music from there though.
amazon uses the worst packaging for vinyl. never buy vinyl from them
I love to get my hands on them japanese red vinyl mono beatles reissues from the early 80s
Christ you sound like an assblasted pussy bitch.
Curious, where do you recommend buying vinyl from other than in-person stores? Never bought vinyl online before
im in the uk so i tend to use
recordstore.co.uk
store.hmv.com
for new items
recordstore sometimes does signed items which is nice.
2nd hand stuff, ebay or discogs.
discogs is very hit and miss over the grading of items, but usually well pakaged.
Ebay has similar problems with grading, at least you can view the photos on ebay though.
On Yas Forums? Impossible.
