Metalcore ruined metal. It made it too clean. Modern metal bands don't know how to write good music. All they know is triggered drums, guitar pro, auto tune, quantization, and emulators.

if by 'real metal' you been 'traditional heavy metal' then yes.
Metalcore is not clean compared to trad metal. a 'standard' metalcore song has a clean sung chorus and vokills, but as far as guitar tone and stuff goes it varies a lot but on balance it's dirtier than most old school metal, especially Iron Maiden style metal vs Metallica style.
And besides it's not all metalcore these days, when metalcore became the dominant genre then, as is typical in underground scenes, many bands became heavier and more extreme and many other bands reverted to old school thrash

it was a stepping stone to their more recent material. i still think it's a good album, plenty of riffs and head banging to be had. but it really does pale in comparison to anything else they put out. idol is mind-bendingly good, i'm surprised they don't have more dick riders on Yas Forums since they got the fagtano stamp of approval.

They vary every few months as new bands with talent pop up in the metal scene, but works of art from Megadeth like Rust in Peace, Peace Sells KIMB and from Pantera like Far Beyond Driven, Cowboys from Hell, Vulgar Display, TGST will remain up there.
