He has shit tier opinions on politics though

>t. seething Trumpcel
Trump is worse than Tangerine Dream's worst and Sufjan Steven's Christmas album, cope

I did not care for Taxi Driver.

>Pulp Fiction is rated an 8.5 on Tarantino's page
>Is ranked lower than other films that are rated lower
So he doesn't just do that shit with albums huh...

Any critic who cares about a genre other than jazz, latin, or classical should not be taken seriously

yikes

>it's bad to know more thing than less thing

>Lost Highway
I mean any Lynch pick is a good pick but seriously?
He likes Inland Empire though so that's pretty based

Lost Highway is his best film you absolute pleb

kek

Lost Highway speaks to musicians.

Scaruffi is exactly the kind of person to put Citizen Kane at the top of best films of all time list. For him, "best" means most "significant," not best. This guy would put the oldest known cuneiform fragment as the best poetry of all time. Citizen Kane can suck my nuts.

>Scaruffi
>musician

> 30. Love Exposure

Absolutely unequivocally based

>1. Citizen Kane
God, of course he would

>Nostalgia
>not The Mirror or at least fucking Stalker
Damn this guy just has the contrarian in his genes

It is also worth noting that Orson Welles is listed by him as both the best director and the best actor of all times

No.
He also picked Mr Vengeance over Old Boy

I do like the Light House

It’s very funny though

Not his official list, just a selection of some he likes

only ones I seen are citizen cane (boring), the godfather (alright), ikiru (good), memento (good), pulp fiction (alright)

his best poetry of all times is in chronological order

>no kubrick

Why latin lmfao

>no Joker
>no Drive
>no Dark Knight
>no Fight Club
>no Big Lebowski
>no Lord of the Rings
>not a single Star Wars

Shit taste but it should be expected from that pseud hack

Yeah the order of the lists is pretty arbitrary.

I hope this is ironic

He had the Mirror on there instead of Nostalghia for a long time. Guess he rewatched and decided to replace it

that list isn't official, also doesn't repeat directors.
color of paradise on 5th? a tv show series on 7th spot? he has decent taste but clearly his strong suit is music

if you removed star wars someone might have fallen for this.

Leave kino to the kinoisseurs ok

>1-11 are absolute shit
Wtf

pleb filtered

Jesus fucking Christ, this makes this board's taste look god-tier in comparison

i thought mr vengeance was way better desu, way more fucked and real than oldboy's incest arc which didn't make much sense to me and really isn't that wild. The antagonist in oldboy was too weak for me to enjoy the movie really. The turning point in mr vengeance is psychological horror and the moral dilemmas throughout are extremely difficult and emotionally powerful. There is no clear protagonist/antagonist in mr vengeance, everyone loses.

tv has always been a normie board

I think what a lot of people don’t realize is that all the cinema/lit/basically anything but rock or pop music stuff Scaruffi lists is cobbled together from outsourced, critically safe opinions (whether copy + paste style or researched by one of the minions who help run the site) intermingled with his own, relatively few oddities (for example, his fascination with Satantango for literature or the oddly specific Hitchcocks he favors for cinema). The handful of personalized choices help break up his otherwise slighrly higher brow choices, giving the illusion that he has come to these conclusions on his own. I’d be interested to know to what degree this style of thinking/working affects even the bigger stuff like his favorite albums list (who knows: maybe there’s just some outmoded consensus about Tim Buckley that Scaruffi got ahold of when he was a kid, for example; a similar vibe is picked up if you do a deep dive on Lester Bangs hot takes).

Doesn't he also list himself in the best poetry list?
At least Christgau isn't a blind conformist narcissist like scatuffi

>Memento
It's good, but no where near goat. Also Godfather one isn't even the best Coppola film

Attached: original.jpg (1440x810, 215.19K)

His favorite literature is pretty cringe.
He doesn't review books, he just spews out academic meme titles.

>woody allen at 26

can you say yikes?

scaruffi is cancelled

Of course he'd like Holy Mountain

this list is better than Scaruffi's
come on Yas Forums, don't pretend you actually go to the theater for a good time watching Bergman or some shit
movies are meant to be a different kind of art form
the Yas Forums list is super normie, but they're mostly respectable films
Scaruffi manages to be tryhard but still a basic bitch "le babby's first avant-garde" at the same time.

Nothing else in his filmography comes close to Manhattan, deal with that fact.

lol Yas Forums continues to embarass themselves"

Honestly this. I hate the people who give you a "list of greatest films ever" and its just a bunch of boring artsy shit. I want films that are fun to watch not ones that you have to pretend to like to impress your friends

for me its not even about artsy films being bad, but films are meant to be experienced at the theater (or cinema, whatever its called), not sitting at home, and if you are watching a film at home, its way more fun with friends/family, and the average person isn't gonna want to throw on Tarkovsky or something.
normies are fucking weird, my 21yo brother said he had trouble following the plot of Drive. And when you see a film on the big screen, you want it to be something that's actually grand and exciting.
Yeah the new Bad Boys movie might not be as "objectively good" as a Hitchcock film but is it more FUN? hell yes
it's similar to how harsh noise music or indie rock can be enjoyable with good headphones but you would never want to fucking see it at a concert.

Embarrassing entry level list. Yas Forums should stop talking about films it’s cringe worthy every single time.

So you’re a poptimist?

cringe

You don't have to pretend, who are you even trying to impress. Just watch what you enjoy watching

electronic music tourist
underrates black music in general

Crazy there are people out there who literally can’t wrap their heads around the fact that some people out there don’t want mindless entertainment when they put on a movie. I don’t understand why so many people see it as nothing more than an opportunity to turn off their brain for 90 minutes. There’s nothing entertaining about that sort of shit in my opinion, but a film doesn’t have to be “artsy” to be good either. There are all sorts of quality movies out there

I can listen to pop music. I cant stand basic movies, especially with huge budget, I feel insulted
