Anybody with a brain knows that 80s and 90s hip-hop/rap was the pinnacle and it's been downhill since

>80s better than 90s
rap didn't even get good until rakim came out

when did Rakim come out?

Attached: file.png (512x512, 23.86K)

90s>10s = 00s>80s

>80s and 90s hip-hop/rap was the pinnacle and it's been downhill since
pretty much this

Nope, time will prove me right. Artists like Carti and Chief Keef will be seen as legends in about 20 years.

lol what does this graph even mean?
I don't necessarily disagree, but wtf is this shit

>Nudy album
>Uzi album
Yeah I'd say 2020 is off to a great start

based ross poster

80s hip hop fucking sucked dude it sounds like elementary school wheels on the bus go round and round type shit compared to the 90s. The 2000s had better production but worse lyrics, and the last decade had an even split of good lyricists and shitty ones.

Nikki Minaj, Drake, etc still releasing music immediately drops the decade to a maximum 0/10

>80's hip hop somehow better than 90's or 10's hip hop
dear lord lewronggeneration faggots like you make me physically ill

1986, after 6 years of utter trash that makes soulja boy look like kanye west. and hip hop was still pretty shitty until wu tang came out in 93.

too lazy to make a chart, but here's my version for rock music
>50's: 5
>60's: 10
>70's: 9
>80's: 7
>90's: 7
>2000's: 5
>2010's: 2

80s = 90s > 60s > 00s > 70s > 10s
FUCK PROG, PSYCH IS WHERE ITS AT

>Underground Era (1973 - 1979) - 5/10
>Old School Era (1979 - 1984) - 2/10
>New School Era (1984 - 1987) - 4/10
>Silver Age (1987 - 1993) - 6/10
>Golden Age (1993 - 1997) - 9/10
>Shiny Suit Era (1997 - 2001) - 5/10
>Bling Era (2001 - 2007) - 6/10
>Dark Ages (2007 - 2010) - 4/10
>Second Golden Age (2010 - 2017) - 10/10
>Second Silver Age (2017 - Present) - 7/10

>lewronggeneration
it's miles above 10s hip hop and only slightly better than 90s. are you retarded?
the 80s didn't have as many good rappers, since it wasn't as popular a genre yet, but the ones it had were god tier and there were slightly more of them
>Rakim
>PE
>Run DMX
>Beastie Boys
>Slick Rick
>De La Soul
>NWA
>EPMD
>LL Cool J
>Big Daddy Kane
etc

>FUCK PROG, PSYCH IS WHERE ITS AT
i agree with this sentiment, but there's far more to the 70's than just prog

Oh... It's this thread again... Don't mind me... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

>Run DMX

TRAAAAASH

>Slick Rick

yeah they're okay but nothing special outside of a few hits

>Rakim
>PE
only god tier rappers you listed

Also
>Run DMX

early 80’s rap was fun
late 80’s to mid 90’s was the golden era
late 90’s and the whole 2000’s were the cringiest and most garbage hip hop music could ever be there’s not a worst moment for music overall than that
2010’s were golden era 2.0 if you don’t count these talentless uninspired hacks like kendrick lamar who just stole the 90’s swag and went mainstream because of old people whose music taste haven’t moved past high school (when that kind of music was played on the radio) and the new era of söycritics
in the 2020’s rap as a mainstream genre will die

The fact that you used oughts just discredits your entire opinion. Plus no eighties hip hop even comes close to the likes of XXXtentacion, Lil Peep or even Death Grips

>Run DMX
Never heard of them?
it's been a long day
>like elementary school wheels on the bus go round and round type shit
This has me laughing out loud. Too true

>eighties rap
>good
The extreme level of contrarianism this board reaches never fails to amuse me. Fucking kek

>wheels on the bus go round and round shit
Ah yes, like this youtu.be/2TN-kDEKxF0

Didn't realize people like you, with single digit IQs, could get on the internet.

I am never not shocked when i see opinions lilke this that are literally in the reverse of what is true. Contrarians actually have it in their genes I am entirely and unironically convinced now.

>>Run DMX
>>Beastie Boys
>>De La Soul
>>LL Cool J
>>Big Daddy Kane
>TRAAAAASH
Allah in Heaven, you have some terrible taste if you think that is trash.

I dunno, I can imagine someone singing it over this. I think its because a lot of 2000s kids shows used this type of hip hop beat

The beat isn't as intrusive, but that's not a bad thing. Compare that song (where you can actually hear his lyrics, wordplay, etc) to somebody like Kanye who has too much goddamn shit going on behind the lyrics; or the mumble rappers where the beat is supposed to be the main attraction.

>it sounds like elementary school wheels on the bus go round and round type shit
you dumb nigger
youtube.com/watch?v=h1WRpCsR2EE

Before I even clicked the link I knew what it would be you fucking dumb idiot. Rakim birthed rap out of his BBC, his shit is so good it's still relevant and quality to this day. Don't pretend that ALL 80s rap sounded like this

70s: 6/10
80s: 8/10
90s: 9/10
00s: 4/10 (underground scene is 9)
10s: 7/10

Carti is overrated and queef has one good song

Every decade has its unique merits and one isnt superior to the other.

Only if you acknowledge most shit before 87 ish

Its a progressive unfolding of truth

Nah, 10s was when rap peaked commercially and critically. Pic related

No one wants to talk about how the use of the word 'NIGGA' and just cursing in general got used more and more each decade on ?

who is she

Rakim is one of the people who innovated more lyrically complex rap, that's why he stands out from his contemporaries.

What hip hop artist from the 10s do you genuinely believe stood out and became a household name in music? I’m really interested.

for me, it's danny brown

Basado

No way

kanye

The only based opinions in this whole thread

You are retarded and have no taste!

Old school hip hop doesn't make me physically ill, so I'd say it's pretty accurate desu. Dunno that it's better than the 90s though.

80s hip hop no N words
90s hip hop the N word starts to creep in.
2000s the N word gets used a lot more
2010 The N word is overused to point of comedy and parody

obvious answer

oh how the mighty have fallen

zoomers should be shot

correct except 2000s production was ass sans Kanye, ringtone rap is a fucking abomination
