The entirety of romanticism.

early 2000s, but you probably weren't alive for that.

This, the early 2000s were completely plagued with some of the worst gimmicks in music history, even some of the best artists of this era like The Mars Volta or Sufjan Stevens couldn’t avoid it

>even some of the best artists of this era like The Mars Volta or Sufjan Stevens couldn’t avoid it
>The Mars Volta
>the best artists of this era

late 90’s early 00’s hip-hop especially busta rhymes and ja rule

The worst trend during that era was the whole orchestral indie meme like Arcade Fire, Decemberists or Beirut, where you had like 15 guys up on stage yet somehow the music remained extremely boring and simplistic.

OP said cringe not based

EVERYDAY IM SHUFFLIN'

That's one of the best bands of all time though.

Bling hip-hop and Nu-Metal were pretty cringe desu

The late 2010s
>muh duhpressin
>muh feels
>muh fatness
>muh blackness

>>muh feels

Every decade since 1bc was a decade of feels

late 2010s

Everyone who disagrees that the early 2010s was the worst era of popular music doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about or forgot half of the shit from back then.

The early 2010s was legit a continuous stream of the absolute worst music to ever be released. Find me worst hit songs than these:

I'll gladly take Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, etc. over any one of these songs

>I'll gladly take Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, etc. over any one of these songs
>ill gladly take fake depressed droning garbage than fun music
ok user.

if your idea of fun is the fuckin Lazy Song and Flo Rida then idk what to tell you
Bruno Mars recent funk/disco influenced hits are 100x better

mid 00's

the late 2010's

nah that shit is trash but at least its not pandering garbage like post malone and billy eyelash.

Filtered

But Magical Mirai 2013 was unironically the best concert of all time.

alright then, user
here's some more "fun" music for ya:

youtube.com/watch?v=qMxX-QOV9tI

Based plebeian retard.

Shut the fuck up

All of these songs were based as fuck though, barring Rude and Ho Hey, you fucking pseud cuck

Moves Like Jagger is one of the most based pop songs of all time

nah, you're just a pleb zoomer

This, but mostly because so many retarded teenagers got into music because of the spreading wildfire that is social media and YouTube channels like Fantano. Music is ruined for good.

The late 2000s were also complete garbage - "emo," crunk, various "scene" bullshit, autotuned rap, autotuned everything...

Basically every time period since 2000 has been pretty cringey I would say. Current popular music is extremely cringey.

Goddamn, why are Yas Forums and /fa/ so reddit as fuck? Hurr durr muh obscure songs hurr durr I hate pop DAE hate pop music?

Why is popular culture complete shit?

Answer that question and you have the answer to your question.

I don't hate pop music, you fucker
In fact I imagine I'm one of the few people here that would genuinely defend pop music, but the early 2010s was so obviously the worst era for pop music imo.

just to show I'm not some obnoxious fag who thinks all pop is shit, here's some actually decent pop hits from the early 2010s, as scarce as they are

youtube.com/watch?v=pa14VNsdSYM
youtube.com/watch?v=4JipHEz53sU

This shit is shit. You're an obnoxious fag.

t. rockist or guy who thinks Maroon 5 are actually based

T. teenage Pitchfork-addicted pleb who thinks all genres are inherently equal and has no interest in any particular style of music beyond a surface level of interest.

1. poptimism is just a shit as rockism
2. all genres aren't equal but that doesn't mean all pop music is shit
3. pitchfork has always sucked ass and even newfag plebs are aware of this
also my interest in certain styles of music is so far from surface level lol

Practically all pop music is shit. Sure there are exceptions. But it's shit as a genre. No reason to pay any attention to it.

It would be like saying "hey I know crunkcore is shit, but let's try to find the least shitty examples from this shitty genre." It's just not worth anyone's time, even if you can find occasional examples that aren't that bad.

that's not an apt comparison at all, crunkcore was a small trend with at most a dozen bands and modern pop music is a genre that has been around for about 70 years with thousands of artists many of which are actually good

Eh. Statistically I think it's an apt comparison. A similar percentage of crunkcore artists and pop artists may be good. Sure, the genres have different sizes by an order of magnitude. But both are unworthy of attention for the same reason - a vanishingly small percentage of the artists from the genres are good.

EDM influenced pop music was perhaps the worst mistake of the century so far

>Practically all pop music is shit.
lmao

Do you really disagree?

something bad happened when indie rock bands got access to ProTools, Ableton and shit. All of a sudden everything sounded the same, a kind of chunky, simplistic production. Maybe it all sounded the same back in the 80s and 90s but it sounded cool then because of the distortion and lo fi quality.

let's not forget mumford and sons

>2000s thought the 90s were shit and the 80s were based as fuck
>2010s thought the 2000s were shit and the 90s were based as fuck
It's happening again. People will be nostalgic for all this shit come 2030

Attached: 98236492.png (128x128, 2.37K)

basically this, except 2010s nostalgia is already starting. fags have been whining about things they liked when they were 12 for about 6 years now. yes, dude, we know you hate MLP and creepypasta and the living tombstone. this is the 50th time you’ve said it. oh what, now it’s 2020 and you’re getting nostalgic for it? crazy

Liking MLP was always a manchild thing tho lol

What The Fox Said is admittedly a guilty pleasure and desu is underrated severely by you hipster freaks. Try listening to the radio for once, it's actually a great well crafted song. Only bad part is the obnoxious chorus. The rest is peak comfy.

First 3 fucking SUCK, last one is okayish...

You're fucking trolling me, right? Like this is all a funny haha moment for you? You choose 5 good pop songs and say they suck, then you choose 5 shit pop songs and say they're good? This is all just an epic meme, right? Like haha, lets ruse this dude for the epic lols?

(no but this guy is right, those first 5 were shit and these last 4 are good)
Get some pop taste y'all

I still love that Decemberest’s sea shanty though

FUCK YOU I LIKE IT

>Tik Tok
BASED

Yes, the late 2010s

nah that would be one less lonely girl

Such experts full of wire.

Does anyone writing this thread have any real music education? Right. Is not.

Without it, most of the phenomena in music will go unnoticed, not to mention that you would be able to analyze them.
> Did you notice how d acted as that frame tune?
> Did you recognize a clear Salzerian extension there?
> Would this piece of music open better if its thematic material were viewed as an articulating factor in its tonal movement?

So. Without proper training, a person who values music and its composers and performers will be likened to a baby in a high chair with a food pusher in his mouth. "Nam, it tastes good because it tastes good." "Yeah, tastes bad because I don't like this."

Imagine a situation where these babies argue over which canned food is overrated. Or well, no need to imagine. You can see it in this thread.

don't forget the wanted and miley cyrus.

Other way around, bro. You actually thought SUPER BASS was fucking good?

Holy shit, 24k was so fucking BAD compared to his early shit like Billionaire and Young Girls

Comparing his early hits like Billionaire to his later shit like 24k literally reminds me of that "Soul versus Soulless" meme, cause his new shit is soulless as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Tchouk tchouk musik is an amazing single from that era

Literally everybody hates pop, but they listen to it anyway.
