The Who Appreciation Thread

This is a The Who appreciation thread. I will be posting pictures of the greatest rock band there ever was. Discussions are encouraged. I'm seeing them in Newcastle in two weeks.

Is there any other band who has the stage presence of The Who? Only ones who ever matched them was Jimi Hendrix

Attached: IMG_1068.jpg (736x495, 70.3K)

No, no one ever matched them.

One fun fact is that at the Monterey Pop Festival at 67 Jimi Hendrix set his guitar on fire because The Who were on before, smashing their gear per usual. Hendrix wanted to one up them. Which he succeeded with. Gave both bands great publicity.

I'll be dumping all images I have of the Who. Around 50 perhaps.

I saw them when John was still alive thankfully. Joe Strummer was the support.

John Entwistles son, wearing "Boris the spider"

Attached: IMG_1062.jpg (399x600, 88.19K)

I'm in awe. I'm too young to have seen Entwistle perform.

Elton John in this picture. Probably from when Tommy the movie was released.

I like this picture.

The unedited high jump picture. There's an image floating around on the internet where Pete jumps higher. It's a fake. This is the real one.

Joe Walsh. A great drinking companion of Keith.

"Mend the electricity"

Attached: IMG_0973.jpg (920x1136, 153.5K)

A great picture with Liam Gallagher. Whom is a great Who fan. He took his son to a Who gig where he was performing prior to them and told his son, "this is how its done"

Keith and Zak Starkey, the current drummer of the Who. Also Ringo Starrs son. Keith is his godfather and gave him his first drum kit. Ringo wanted him to play guitar.

Pete and Gilmour. Great friends. White City fighting is a collaboration of them both.

No. The Who blew them the fuck out at every opportunity. The Who are one of the few bands who are better live than they are on record, Led Zeppelin is the opposite. The Who on record were pretty bog standard rock/pop, while Led Zeppelin on record were strutting hard rock. The Who live though was strutting balls to the wall hard rock while Zepp live was fucking wankery and noodling.

I agree. Jimmy Page was an excellent studio musician, live not that great.

I can't imagine it without him anymore, bit like Slayer without Jeff.

You were saying?

Obviously I'm comparing to The Who, who were one of the greatest live acts ever.

How about we split the difference and say whatever order, Zep and Who are 1 and 2

the Hu?

The Stooges had the best live presence imo
