You are wrong. Pop Group is merely good, not great. Y is in no way a better album than Deceit. Period.

Deceit (as opposed to Y) is solid gold from start to finish. Examples 1-3:

youtu.be/NLMoDU9Tl_E
youtu.be/h_E95gD8KBE

Without that, we wouldn't have this:

Both are great

Who /johnpeelsessions/ here?

>he unironically thinks “zomg le dystopia!!!” is better than Y
Lmao neck yourself faggot

its pretty nice but i prefer Daughters

name one bad song off Y, I can name multiple off Deceit
>Sleep
>Independence
>Makeshift Swahili

>Makeshift Swahili
>bad

Makeshift Swahili is literally generic dark prog lmao. Don't even get me started on how they somehow manage to make it even worse by trying to be 'experimental' and cutting to that shit live tape. Anyways you have shit taste and you're a faggot

this album is what critics think Kid A is

thinking Deceit is experimental and innovative is actually just as retarded as it is for Kid A.

suggest some experimental music, wnhere do i start

start with the artists This Neet ripped off: Henry Cow, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Wire, Throbbing Gristle etc.

god you would say this shit to any album that gets popular
there is tape manipulation, screamed vocals and a fucking dub section on the album. you pricks are insufferable

>Implying Kid A isn't worth the credit it's given

saying
>there is tape manipulation, screamed vocals and a fucking dub section on the album
is the exact same thing as saying
>omg there's IDM, an ambient track, post rock, AND krautrock on it how is it not innovative?!?!
about Kid A
Everything Deceit does had been done before and mashing preexisting styles together isn't experimental or innovative

wel technically, yes kid a and this heat arent """'experimental"""" in the sense that they didnt pioneer or innovate in their fields. but they both are some of my fav albums because they took past innovation and used it to convey a message thats actually really convincing and powerful.

This but all of Radiohead

think what you want but artists that are given credit for 'innovation' is just another thing that's determined by the general consensus. No matter who did it first. It's about the societal impact, another popularity contest. Where Kraftwerk the real innovators?

that's an overly cynical way of framing it. this heat does it's own special thing, especially in communicating aggression in a fashion distinct from throbbing gristle or wire. consider the sum of it's parts. context and juxtaposition, bringing styles to new light, it's still innovation
youtube.com/watch?v=PDluEia22oA
youtube.com/watch?v=uXoTuSCi87E
>omg there's IDM, an ambient track, post rock, AND krautrock on it how is it not innovative?!?!
concerning the expectations of alt rock pre 2000s, Kid A was a revolutionary move for a band in such a genre. It's silly to hold every act to some universal "innovation/experimental" criteria using babby's first avant prog, dub, post punk and industrial

never said anything about self titled faggot so stop sperging. and I mentioned all of those "babby's first X" bands because they (unlike This Neet) were undeniably innovative and experimental
>It's about the societal impact
Deceit hasn't had impact on anyone other than underage RYM users

It's the same band. I wanted to demonstrate that they were pioneers in their own way, as clearly the practices of s/t made it's way to deceit. as for the album, henry cow isn't as aggressive, wire isn't as progressive, throbbing gristle doesn't have it's sonic palette. all you are proving is that art is derived from earlier art... which has always been true
(also wire isn't a good precedent, maybe metabolist, lemon kittens, native hipsters)

like I said, what those bands were doing was actually novel, not just a mix of preexisting styles. still probably derivative to a degree sure but they were doing more than just mixing A and B. also very impressive that you managed to name bands more obscure than Wire

>"probably still x but they were doing more than y"
I'm not going to sift through your retarded distinctions all night. also wire is like the who of post punk, anyone who has listened to more than a handful of post punk albums would know this

Attached: Boy-Throwing-Book.gif (830x900, 49.7K)

>Wire
>Obscure
ok literally everyone knows them
Also being derivative doesn't necessarily mean it's worse than their predecessors. I would rather listen to this heat's s/t than any wire albums

Attached: 1424933369558.jpg (800x850, 102.54K)

talking about "post punk" like it's a coherent genre is the most RYM thing you can do. Wire and Lemon Kittens hardly have anything in common beyond the RYM tags buddy

>ok literally everyone knows them
that was the joke autist
>Also being derivative doesn't necessarily mean it's worse than their predecessors. I would rather listen to this heat's s/t than any wire albums
not what the argument was about. Deceit is still shit though

>Deceit is still shit though
well I can't argue with opinions

I didn't make that claim at all lmao. I was providing a closer precedent to deceit's style because you were retarded enough to compare it to wire

>I was providing a closer precedent to deceit's style
I can think of like two tracks of Deceit that sound more like Lemon Kittens than something off of Chairs Missing

it be kinda quirky doe king

Yeah some people really like this

>zomg le dystopia
nice try shill everyone knows this heat are one of the only bands that aren't apart of the NWO

based

How is this album not experimental lol

because its good

lmao bunch of fags who can't just enjoy the album ITT

Bump
