I'm gonna try my luck on this board

I'm gonna try my luck on this board.

So I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, and the rear wiper won't return. It only moves about 180 degrees and stops. And when I switch it off, it just stops where it is. I'm the second owner of the car, when I first got it, it would sometimes work, sometimes not. But it hasn't worked for a while, now. I haven't had time to examine it, maybe its some kind of position sensor going bad, or wiring. I can only hope it's not a computer issue.

Do you know what the problem might be
Have you had this issue?

test

If it's not functioning correctly, then it is working as designed.

OP here.

I can confirm this. And the only issues I have with this car is all electrical. Literally everything mechanical is perfectly working somehow.

You have aids

OP again.

Well aside from the rust. The wires are probably all corroded. #ChicagoLife

Eric O is the man

bro, I got an '02 Mountaineer (so, basically the same car), and I had to get my whole wiring harness redone. My issue had the whole fucking car shutting down while I was driving, so at least you dont have that problem. Honestly though, I drive in a lot of rain and imo the rear wiper is not really necessary; you can still see out the rear mirror and you always have your side mirrors. Unless its a cheap fix and its really bugging you, I'd say leave it alone.

Might just be the cog in the wiper motor gone shitty. Might even just be a build up of shit.
I'm assuming your car isn't very unique, so a chopshop might just have a very cheap wiper motor you could salvage

OP here why the fuck is it that whenever I try and search things myself, it never works. But when I ask someone else, it takes then 1 minute of looking it up.

If the car turns off while driving it's the ignition being shitty, or it's gone damp. Might not have needed the entire re-wiring. A clean up of the ignition, and a good reseal would have worked too. Unless you had stripped wires.

The wiper moves perfectly. It just doesn't return to the proper location.

yeah, bad wires was what it was; kept blowing the same fuse, forget the number. Something to do with an O2 sensor

Not him, but you underestimate the complexity of modern cars. It doesn't need to be a faulty ignition system for the car to not run. There is way too many damn sensors on cars nowadays, and all of them need to be working perfectly, and have perfect wiring. And it sucks to maintain.

Back when cars were simple, for example in the 1950's an engine rebuild could cost $50 (like $400, adjusted for inflation).

Sell it. Nothing is worth keeping once it turns 18.

>knowing this little

I like to see out the back window without rain on it. And because it doesn't get as wet, the setting with the pause is the only one I would usually use.

Op here.
I have a confession to make.
As a Ford driver, you all know I'm a huge faggot.
Post dick pics to me feel better about being the gay owner of shitty American craftsmanship.
I should have bought a Daewoo.

Probably a bad relay.

Just buy a tesla

Perhaps my explanation needs more detail.

The wiper moves all the way to it's maximum positions. If I set it so it's constantly moving, there's no issue. It just doesn't want to go back to the park position by itself. Hence why when I switch it off, it doesn't go back to the park position, but instead immediately stops in whatever position it's in.

Sorry for not knowing proper English.

I would recommend purchasing an aftermarket wiper motor. Most likely your problem is caused by the wear of the contact (I do not know the English word here..).

T. Car mechanic fag

I was thinking some kind of wiper position sensor is either worn, or corroded. Or the wiring is corroded.

The previous owner of the car, I'm pretty sure never used it. because the wiper joint was all stiff and corroded. I had to keep moving it back and forth to break some corrosion off to get it to press against the window completely.

Checked for the trips,

But in answer to your question, because you are a dumbass :P

You do know there’s a board just for automotive stuff right retard?
