Im building two different things. A table and a display case for my cards. I work on cars a lot, so im familiar with handyman type of stuff. I need a miter saw. I have a router already. But Would I need something this nice for two jobs? I dont mind spending the money if I have to.

Need has nothing to do with it.
The real questions is "Do you want it?"
It's a tool.
Maintain it and the value only goes up.
I tried building a work bench only cutting by hand, and it didnt go super well. I suck at it. Do I need something like this to do it right?
double compound miter saw is great investment. One tool i would say dont skimp. even if you sell it down the line you will make most you money back.
Or will a basic Ryobi work just as well?
Tools are one of the best investments you can do, get the best you can buy, without breaking the bank obviously
Thank you for the advice. Whats your background with woodworking tools? All my stuff is Milwaukee. But the only one they make is battery operated. Which I dont want.
You can get by with a miter box (diy or bought) and back saw. Unless you foresee more use of the tool it's a few hundred dollars wasted just to not handsaw a dozen or so cuts.
The one in the post is the one im looking at. $349 on sale right now. 400$ is my budget. So its well within the options. It even leaves room for extra blades lol
Dude it completely depends on what kind of cuts you need and what size the workpieces are
Ive looked at a miter box too. But then im limited to what ever wood will fit in the box itself.
I live in a shithole country, tools are extremely expensive here. I have a Makita 12 inch miter saw, made in the USA, best tool I own, perfect square cuts from the moment I took it out of the box. It's not a compund miter saw though and that's limiting for certain jobs.
I have similar to this. Few years older now. With a Harbor Freight rolling stand.
Bought it when I was upgrading my house and needed everything from kitchen trim to studs.
Bust it out on the occasional DIY simple furniture.
Just get a circular saw bro.. save you money and you can make all the same cuts. Plus it’s smaller and easier to store and move around
the blade depends. the proper tool should be able to handle very cut up to a 4x6. All the way down to 1/4 round finish trim.
He said he's making a table. Unless the top is already cut or he also plans on buying a biscuit jointer or such, a miter is not the only saw needed
The top isnt built yet. and there will also be a TV cut out of the middle. Its going to be made of Walnut, with the base and legs of pine.
What you want is a full sized table saw.
Chop saws aren't for building furniture. They're rough cut tools.
The fact that you say "Hand many stuff" and "work on cars a lot" makes me think you're a retard.
A sliding chop saw is nice, but a compound one isn't nice unless you really need it. It's just another adjustment to be out on.
I've never needed it and been doing trim work for 10 years.
This. Kobalt actually has a really nice double compound miter that’s got a lot of good features for the price.
But realize that you’re going to need more than just a router and miter saw. You’re going to need a table saw or at least a good circular saw and guide if you’re working with any sheet goods. Don’t forget about planets/joiners, and other finishing stuff, depending on how nice of a product you’re trying to make. Another thing is look at how much whatever miter saw you’re looking at can cut, not just fence height but what the draw length is.
Buy a good contractor table saw like the Dewalt 745 and a good mitre gauge. Mitre saws are pointless unless you’re doing lots of repeat cuts fast. You can almost do anything with a tablesaw,
The only chop saw professionals use is the DeWalt. Rubes get suckered into the Milwuakee, Hitachi, and Bosch. Retards get the Koboalt, Ryobi, Rigid, and Chicago Electric.
That's not a mitre saw, it's a sliding compound mitre saw. It's a vital tool if you build timber roofs on the regular and need to do nasty compound rafter cuts into hips and valleys. For building a table all you need is square cuts and could do it for half the cost, or even a mitre box on a handsaw.
FWIW - Dewalt are garbage.
>for my cards
what cards?

I WANT MOAR PICS!!!!
my stuff is shittily crammed in binders and decks, but would like to display stuff rather than have it hide away.
A miter saw is a great tool to have in your workshop. But, a table saw is the heart of the workshop, and you can do long and angle cuts with it.
Oh fuck, you’re right. I must have misread the part where he said he was new to it and just building some hobby shit, not at a job site. Lemme know when that 887 of yours catches fire. Fucking chode
Only chumps buy dewalt drivers.
Milwuakee is the best for most cordless tools right now.
10 years ago it was makita.
Dewalt 10 years ago not makita
DeWalt 20 years ago.
Dude it's 2020.
Those 18v nicads have been dethroned for a long time.
