I've given up on everything after this covid horseshit. I have enough in the bank to buy a few acres and a tiny cabin like this. I also have about $55K in credit that I'm going to max out before vanishing into the woods.

Agree. For some reason there's a pushback against minimalism lately. I'd be perfectly happy in a wilderness cabin with just the bare necessities. Well, and my phone and hopefully laptop. Need a solar panel or two and some batteries.
I wish I had enough to get away. I'm still gonna' have to save for a few years. Good on you, user. I agree. I always say that I'd be happy in a tiny house/cabin if I just had basic necessities and an internet connection (I don't want to live in the middle of nowhere, just somewhere with few people).
So true, although being in the wilderness is awesome. My daughter lives in the middle of a literal hundred acre wood in Arkansas, and I totally envy her and her family. They have most comforts in their small home, but the forest is just outside their door.
Thanks bros I really appreciate that. I really wanted to really go to the middle of nowhere in ID, MT, ND, or SD but I found a nice area in my state so I can still be in the middle of nowhere but within 2 hours of my aging parents. I haven't used satellite internet since 2009 but from by bit of research, that seems to have improved a lot. Back then I had a 768k download.

Good choice to find a spot close to your parents. I wish you the best, user.
I think comfy can be a state of mind as much as a location. I refuse to look at the news or get involved in political or religious discussions, keep to myself mostly. There's such a thing as being in the city but not OF the city.
