I took 150mg effexor/venlafaxine extended release yesterday for the first time and have been feeling like shit. My friend gave one to me so I thought why not. It’s been about 10 hours and I still feel nauseous, diarrhea, no appetite and slightly blurry vision.
What can I do to get it off my system/body as soon as possible? It feels terrible
Have you had experience with it? Any kind of food you’d recommend to eat to flush it out? I finally was able to sleep this morning but all night I was shivering and feeling terrible

150 mg is a lot. Your buddy has been on them for awhile I'm assuming. There is nothing you can do except wait it out and drink a shitstorm of water. Drink about a gallon over a period of a couple hours. When you finally wake up you'll be back to normal

SSNRI for GAD/MDD. In lower doses it helps with anxiety, but I thought taking the whole capsule would be sedating or something.. stupid
I'm not reading that I'm just assuming that woman was retarded and drank way more than a gallon in a couple of hours. A gallon over 3-5 hours wont do anything
Ryan Jenkins
dumb move. you have to build up and scale down that drug. 150mg is a lot of that drug if you dont' have any in your system . I used to be on it and i maxed out at 100mg /day and took 3 weeks to get up to that level.. its not a " one hit drug" if you take it regularly its also a bitch to come off.

and its not even really the water that was the problem, is was lack of sodium to go with it. need those electrolytes
Luke Harris
To put it into perspective the average extended release starter dose is 30 mg.
Hunter Hall
Yeah plus I just read the beginning part of the article and she did a detox which means she didn't eat anything and just drank an excessive amount of water every day
Christian Long
Got it. Any kind of food you’d recommend to get it out of my system? Or is riding it out the only way?
Why did you even want to sedate yourself in the first place?
Brody Thompson
Trying to eat on that large of a dose is going to make you even more nauseous. Eat little bits at a time and healthy shit
Leo Moore
Orange juice. Vitamin c will help. Google it
Luis Bennett
Few hits of cocaine every 20 minutes help.
Ryder Baker
And no unfortunately eating is not going to help it pass quicker it just makes you feel better in the short run. Eat shit like fruit
Hudson Williams
excess of that drug can move to your semen. get your buddy to suck it out. hes dumb enough to give you the drug in the first place. maybe he is dumb enough to blow you
William Gonzalez
The VA had me on this for a long time and when I would miss a dose/was taken off it I had terrible withdrawal symptoms. You just have to drink a lot of water, eat healthy and rest.

I don’t understand what your goal was with taking this... do you have any experience with being prescribed an SSRI or SNRI? I’ve been diagnosed with AUD/MD/GAD and have been on a handful of SSRI’s and then moved up to SNRI’s. Effexor actually used to be the one that worked well for me, but at the time I wanted to take myself off. I was on 225mg/day and stopped cold turkey. Effexor has a reputation for the worst withdrawls out of most SNRI’s, and my mood was everywhere for a month going through the withdrawals. After a few years, decided to go back on SNRI’s and found that Effexor didn’t work as well as it did before, and tried Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine) which is very similar to Effexor, and found that Pristiq metabolizes well with my body & improved my mood and alleviated my symptoms of depression substantially. But it took me 3 different SNRI’s, starting at a low dose for ~2 weeks and then upping to the standard dose and taking note of my mood for ~6/8 weeks and then deciding if that drug was the right choice or not. My point is, SSRI’s/SNRI’s aren’t drugs you wanna mess with nor do they really give you any type of high. Please do your research because these types of drugs can fuck with your mood and give you awful side effects/withdrawls.

I just wanted to feel good and took it for the anti-anxiety properties it has... I only took it last night and will obviously never again after this, but how long do you think until I go back to feeling “normal”? I couldn’t sleep until 6 in the morning and had to run to the bathroom probably 5 times, along with cold sweats and shaking. I feel better now but the “taste” and yucky feeling is still up my throat
Austin Turner
Exercise, hydration and lot's of masturbation.
Robert Reyes
this. Tbh you got lucky. I've felt completely bonkers on starting dosages.
Nathaniel Martinez
Buy Kava Kava if you want an anti-anxiety drug. Get a good brand - no extracts or pills.
Justin Miller
A 150 mg should take somewhere in the ballpark of 2 days before you start feeling back to normal if you didn't have any dosage build-up
Isaiah Miller
You need a downer. Find some Xans or K-pins, alcohol might work as well. Just stop taking pills without knowing what they are for.
Dominic Ward
Honestly I’m not sure, 150mg was a lot to take of Effexor when your body hasn’t built a tolerance to it. If you’re looking for anti-anxiety meds, ask your dr about hydroxyzine and buspar. Hydroxyzine is an antihistamine and is used for anxiety/panic attacks and has sedative properties, Buspar is an an anxiolytic. Both are safer/less addictive types of medications compared to a typical benzo. You should feel back to your normal within a few days for sure though, you might just feel off for a day or two. Just chill, watch some shows and make sure you’re hydrating and eating.
Anthony Evans
But it would vary person to person. Your metabolism has a lot to do with it but on average I would assume 2 days for that large of a dose
Cooper Diaz
Took 225mg for a year. The half-life is very short so it should be gone in a day.
