I would argue the opposite for the same reason. Poor people are, by far, more likely to be doing the types of jobs that include tipping so are much more likely to be sympathetic to others in that type of environment. Rich people run the gamut, some are miserly and don't have empathy at all, others can be too giving from time to time.
