>be me >22 >living in a house I share with another roommate >Hear a knocking on my door at 2am >grab mace mommy gave me when I first moved out >2 nogs at the front door "opain uhp iz dah police" trying to kick my door in >ohfuck.jpg >prop chair up and take defensive position with my little bottle of mace and spear head knife like solid snake >call the police >they eventually give up the doors was pretty heavy and landlord put new dead bolts in a few weeks ago
If my landlord hadn't changed those locks I would've been fucked , I just got my trumpbucks and decided that it was time to get a gun. Does anyone have experience with Andersons AM15 not treated with RF85 (cant afford that one), is the standard just as reliable? This is just the cheapest I could find online at the moment, if any anons know a good rifle around the 500-600 dollar let me know
1. go to /k/, not Yas Forums 2. does your state even have castle law? 3. an ar15 (or similar) is a terrible home defense weapon
Carson Rivera
Shut the fuck up retard. OP an ar15 is possibly one of the best home defense weapons available. That AR will do fine but I'd go on palmetto and buy an AR there instead. Will get the exact same quality and a better price. Also for wall penetration get some M855 62gr green tips, for no wall penetration get some M193 55grs. What state do you live in?
Connor Gomez
go to /k/ make a post and ask what a good home defense gun is
Wyatt Long
I agree with the other gunfag. AR15 is a great home defense weapon simple because it's easy to use.
Juan Walker
Okay, so I haven't been banned by that one power-tripping mod again, yet, that means I can answer you.
So yeah man, that standard Anderson AM 15 is gonna be fine. Just about anything you get in this price range is gonna be fine. You could go Anderson, DPMS, Diamondback, PSA, or ATI, and it's all gonna perform about the same. Just stay away from Vulcan, Hesse, and Blackthorne, or any piece of shit with a plastic receiver, and you're set.
Get an optic for it, and get some spare mags. Truth is you are not buying at the optimal time, you are not going to be finding cheap sales on Pmags and Hexmags going for $4-6 apiece. You're gonna have to pay more than you would've if you'd bought earlier. But what can you do? You gotta have a gun.
Bullets get sold out real quick lately, remember you can load it with .223 Remington if you have to.
>assault (or kind of) rifle >home defense Dumbass. Get a pistol. Also get a weighted dummy pistol to practice drawing.
Luis Ramirez
If you are looking for home defense get a Mossberg 500. Shotguns are better home defense firearms
Dylan Hernandez
Perfect. But to be honest you should've already had an ar15 and a glock19/17 already with 7 spare ar mags and 4 spare glock mags. But better late than never. I'd search around a bit too. Go to your local gun store and find a younger salesman that knows what hes talking about. Also look up your local ranges and see If you can rent any rifles/handguns(you should have at least 1 of each). /k is also a solid place for questions like this, I browse there frequently. Good luck dude.
Elijah Sanchez
Yeah I realized that this isn't the best time to, me and my roommate are freaked out those dudes are gonna come back. most sites I visited aren't doing transfers but i found that Anderson is still doing them they just have a two week delay thnx for the input
Blake Hughes
AR-15s are dogshit. get a real gun that can handle firing more than 3 shots within 30 seconds.
Luke Ward
this. blow those nigs heads clean off their shoulders
Jaxon Rodriguez
Oh and dont listen to anyone telling you that an ar15 is not an excellent choice for home defense. An ar15 is the most versatile weapon platform and you can cover many many bases from self defense to hunting to sport shooting. Shotgun is ok too, but lean towards the AR15 and handgun first, then branch out into dedicated weapons.
Colton Gutierrez
Very good advice. And like this post said, make sure you know how to use whatever firearm you get. That is the most important thing. Take it to the range frequently and practice, know what you are doing because if you are in a high stress situation you are more likely to hurt yourself
William Martin
i prefer to have a shotgun for home defense but get an AR anyway
Owen Gray
typical american gets scared and buys the biggest weapon they can. just fire one blank and pop off and they will be running. if not. yeah get that weapon and fuck em up
OP, look at Aero Precision. The AC-15M is slightly more expensive, but can still be had for under $800 and is a higher quality build with a 16" barrel and midlength gas system which is the ideal setup for that barrel length.
All these fuckers saying ARs are bad for HD. Yeah, 77grain OTM Black Hills are pretty much the IDEAL round for HD. Fragments upon impact, deals tons of damage to soft targets while minimizing overpenetration BETTER than a pistol or a shotgun with 00 buckshot. You're all nogun faggots.
>77grain otm >16" barrel >2800ft per second velocity >fragmentation I woulndt want to be on the receiving end of that. I have hollow points in my 9mm 5.56 ball in my AR.
Jack Fisher
Apparently niggers dont exist in your home country
Adam White
An AR is a good all-around weapon, but if you just want something for home defense, its not the ideal. Even with a 16" barrel, you still have another 8-10" in receiver & stock. Swinging 26" around in a hallway and manouvering through corners puts you at a movement disadvantage. A Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR) or pistol is a much better choice.
I'm not shitting on AR's, I have one I love and it's by far, one of my favorite guns, but if I could only keep one gun, it would be my Sig MPX SBR. Easy to get on target, basically zero recoil, chambered in 9mm so its cheap to shoot, comes with a 30rd mag and you can unload the magazine in a 6 inch group at 15 yards in under 10 seconds.
Alexander Butler
stop doing drugs and letting niggers in your house to sell you drugs and you won't have those niggers coming back at night to get your xbox
Matthew Jackson
Get a bag of party poppers and pop them behind the door
It works out cheaper per nigger
Luis Wright
So then get an AR pistol with a brace? Don't have to pay the NFA tax and rifle rounds out of a 10.5" barrel are still far, FAR better than any 9mm.
Gavin Reed
OP here, behind my neighborhood there is a ghetto about a half mile though the woods known for shootings and robberies. I'm sure they were armed, I couldn't see much of them though my peep hole because they were in all black, but its fair to imply they weren't scarred to shoot back.
Christian Lewis
I would recommend AR 15 pistol with SB tactical brace BCM makes a good upper aero Percision makes a great lower 12 1/2 inches is what I’d recommend for barrel length BCM might be a little pricey depending on what your budget is
Matthew Green
An AR for home defense is better than any shotgun for several reasons.
More capacity Less chance of wall overpenetration Faster follow up shots Faster reload (probably not going to have to, but IF you do) More reliable (if you choose a pump shotgun and are inexperienced, you could easily short stroke it in a high pressure situation)
Im not saying a shotgun is a bad choice. But you are much better off with an AR. Look into a side arm while youre at it. You can get a used glock for pretty cheap these days and it will serve you well.
Anything for home defense is better than nothing. Even that knife and mace combo is a better option than leaving your fate up to the mercy of 2 boogs.
Look into getting those windows checked and locked up while you are at it. You can easily make them harder to open from the outside if they are the sliding type by using a wooden block in the track. If you are in a high jig area, consider getting barred windows if the option arises.
Get some window and door stickers from a security company saying the place is under watch. Most chimchars cant read, but they know what those stickers mean and may just avoid the place if they feel its too much trouble.
Logan Lopez
While an AR15 can be good for home defense, I recommend getting a shotgun. If you miss your target with a rifle, then the stray bullet could travel through your walls and could possibly hit an innocent person. While this isn’t too terribly likely, it’s definitely possible and has happened before.
Anthony Johnson
this guy knows what he is talking about
I live in NC where the rule is you can kill anyone on your property if your life is in "danger" ... this is not true in all states and you can go to jail for killing someone on your property, you need to learn your state laws first
buy a shotgun: >easy to operate >almost impossible to jam/fuck up/malfunction >good spread so you don't need to be a great shot >inexpensive >cheap ammo/ slugs and buckshot >"clack-clack" sound usually is enough to scare people off
AR 15: >way more difficult to operate >high chance of jam/malfunction if the user doesnt know how to operate the fire arm >2700fps bullet velocity (the bullet with travel through your wall, and your roommates wall your neighbors wall and your next next door neighbors wall before it stops) >expensive >ammo is expensive
Aiden Torres
to be fair Aero Precision is the only AR brand I'd trust. but come on, you can't deny that the design of an AR is simply not viable for continued use without constant maintenance. using this weapon for war is so counter-productive.
why deviate from the design of a weapon that doesn't fill your bcg and chamber with carbon? makes no fucking sense
Anthony Perry
SBR it amigos.
Evan Evans
buy a couple of knives too and keep them print free and clean. this way, if they ever do bust down your door and you do shoot them to death you can pop the knives in their hands so that the police see immediately how under threat you were and there is no question at all about you killing them.
Austin Johnson
Is this dumbfuck bingo? >not easier to operate >you can easily induce malfs if you shortstroke >spread is IRRELEVANT at home defense distances, you'll be getting 1/2 inches per yard spread which is maybe a tennisball size >relying on the sound of your gun to SCARE AWAY DA BAD GUYS is retarded
Your only legit point was cheap ammo, you fucking idiot. I have many shotguns. The AR is still a far better choice.
Another terrible, misinformed post by an inbred retard with a fudd for a dad/uncle. Please leave this thread. user disregard this.
Isaac Foster
That is some bad info you got there.
In an inhome situation the "spread" of a shotgun load (00 buck would probably be the load of choice) will be almost a non issue.
Over a 5 yard distance, you arent going to get a fantastic spread pattern. Its not like a video game.
and a pump shotgun is more likely to malfunction for an inexperienced shooter in a situation like that. An AR that is properly maintained isnt likely to just fuck up after a shot or 1 of semi auto fire.
People who think racking a shotgun is going to scare someone away, or is a good idea is an idiot. The last thing you want to do in an actual home defense situation is give your position away and let them know what you are using. You have the home advantage and element of surprise when someone is kicking a door in. You dont want to give anything up.
also before someone says it. Warning shots and "neutralizing shots" are fucking retarded too. Dont do that or think that is a viable thing.
And for over penetration, most 223 loads are going to overpenetrate less than 12 gauge buck if you do miss.
