Significant events from your youth that stick with you.
1985, I was 12. Dad used to watch Grandstand on the BBC (various sports events of the day) when someone called into the show and relayed information about a fire at a football stadium. Dad ran to the TV and turned it over (no such thing as remotes in '85) and ITV was showing live footage, and we joined the action pretty much when picture related was happening. It's a harsh experience to watch live TV and see human beings burst into flame before your eyes when you're 12
Baby Jessica trapped in the well. The fall of the Berlin Wall. The trial of Jeffrey Dahmer. Bay Area earthquake (89 I think?). Ted Bundy's execution.
Christian Morris
I had just finished my final exam in my speech class in high school. I walked out the door and some kids were throwing styrofoam up in the air and said "oh look it's Challenger ha ha ha". I had no idea what they were talking about and kind of ignored it. I went to the library and teachers and students were gathered around one of the TV sets that they wheel into classrooms. They kept showing the shuttle exploding of course over and over. I remember I said holy shit and none of the teachers corrected me.
Oliver Jackson
Regan getting shot. Mike Tyson losing to Buster Douglas. Larry Flynt getting shot. LA Riots. Operation Desert Storm. 9/11 Geraldo getting nose broken by Klan Member. Concert goers crushed at Guns N Roses concert. Pepsi Clear came out. Pee Wee Herman caught wanking.

the thing i remember most about the bay earthquake was a kid trapped in a car in the viaduct and they had to have surgeons come into the car with like a foot of clearance and cut his dead mom in half and i think amputate his leg to extricate him, that's what inspired me to get into EMS.

OP here. I remember hearing about Challenger, but being from the UK, it wasn't live, just on the news. I remember the wall falling, I remember watching Charles & Diana marrying. I remember someone trying to shoot the queen and she quelled that horse like a boss. I remember meeting Dave Prowse before Empire came out, fuck that man was tall.
Jackson Evans
The fall of the Berlin Wall was my first memory. I was born in 1987.
Luke White
Yeah I didn't live anywhere near it but I was glued to the news footage for days. I specifically remember this repeated shot, someone happened to be camcording in their car on the bridge as it happened, and you can just see the cars ahead vanish
Luke Anderson
I remember all of ^ these. I was born in 66. Don't remember the moon landing, but have memories of people bitching about Vietnam and the loss of my uncle there. My own tragedies took my attention for awhile, but I remember the Nixon scandal, how much anybody intelligent in GA hated Jimmy Carter, and when I was in elementary school, we still had drills for nuclear war by hiding under our desks. Later in life, there was New Coke, the Challenger disaster, Rodney King (LA Riots), Waco, Ruby Ridge, Monica's missiles (the Clinton affair), and of course everything since then.
Kayden King
yeah that shot of cars just getting instantly squicked, and the cars burning in the sandwiched bridge sections and all the fd could do was bring a ladder standpipe up and dump water in, this is one of the vivid memories for me

my earliest memory is 9/11. I remember very specifically going over to the tv where my parents were watching and looking shocked, and seeing a plane hit a tower from below. I was like 2 and a half or something so people tell me its impossible but I remember it fairly clearly
Aiden Fisher

Luis Smith
When y'all wanna watch a good ol' chase, but you gots MONEY on the game.
Not really my youth, but living in NYC In Sept 2001, waking up to the sound of jet engines whirring over my apartment downtown, and hearing the thud and crash. Then finding out that my childhood friend, his wife & toddler daughter were on that plane. Sucks.
Easton Price

Anyone remember TWA 800? Didn't make much sense being a youngin but going back and reading up on it many years later... Shit was crazy
Gabriel Morales
Columbine school shooting. I was a kid bitching to my dad that I wanted to play a video game and he screamed at me that history was happening. My dad was not a screamer and it really surprised me. 9/11. Dad thought it was a fucked up thing to be joking about on the radio driving me to school. Did not even believe it was really happening. Whole entire school day all 6 periods and lunch were spent in silence watching TV. Parents were upset they had it on the TV for middle school kids to watch.
Jordan Davis
i don't remember that but i do remember when he shoved his fist up my ass
Landon Thompson
