Why have poor people developed a superiority complex just because their broke baby computers can play games? Computers are supposed to be work tools, not children's toys. And when it comes to productivity, any Linux distribution is leagues ahead of whatever Microshaft is offering.
WRONG, time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time. We only got about ~90 years on this earth and I aint gonna waste it working all the time. If you got self esteem problems and need to feel useful then you do you, but not everyone has an inferiority complex. Linux is pretty based though
Logan Turner
When my livelihood and home hobbies rely on Autodesk and CAD/CAMM products that only run on windows, I could really give a fuck. Apple is trendy Chinese trash, Linux is unsupported, and Microsoft is garbage for old people and millennials. What the fuck am I supposed to do?
Kayden Gomez
>no support for industry-standard tools get back to me when your shitty os supports Photoshop.
you fucking gimp
Benjamin Scott
>Computers are supposed to be work tools >not children's toys
and you don't realise you're posting on Yas Forums from a computer
Robert Bennett
>no photoshop >names Gimp
Nolan Nelson
I actually use Linux at home for personal use, and side projects Recommending it for all work is retarded though. Have fun spending an entire day troubleshooting, after you had to spend a week getting your mouse wheel to work correctly. Then you run into something stackoverflow doesn’t have the answer for and your fucked. Essentially you’re dealing with a lot like f overhead, unless youre work deals with doing a specific task that has a bunch of Linux support. Maybe python programming?
Better than windows. But mac is the happy middle between the two, at least for software development.
Kevin Parker
exactly. fucking gimp is a pisspoor excuse of an app for professional workflow. not to mention all the troubleshooting you have to do just to get the os to do something simple. Linux is for nerds that spend more time getting things to work than actually using them for anything work-related. unless you're in network security or something, even then it's probably shit
Blake Ramirez
It always astounds me how many normies are on this site. You guys should be gassed.
Zachary Nelson
>thinks normie is an insult kek
Jacob Myers
fuck off amerifat
Adrian Williams
This.
I would take "normie" over retarded, basement dwelling, incel chicken tendies, fat american autist any day of the week
Dylan Cooper
I wish it remained just for software development. End users have a hell of a time using them because they don't understand the fundamentals of computers like a folder structure
Though I have to say, Linux for work is fine, provided you don't need any specialty software. In my experience, as long as you use generic/bottom shelf hardware, Linux distros are pretty good at figuring out where they are
My personal policy for troubleshooting software on linux is "if it doesn't work after 5 minutes, just find an alternative"
Example, trying to get Quickbooks running. If in 5 minutes I can't get WINE to cooperate, I just fire up a VM
Back in the day, when Netflix required Silverlight so Linux couldn't watch, I'd either download a straight file from Amazon, torrent the fucker, or find it elsewhere online
It's not perfect, but if you know how to drive a PC then Linux can really do whatever you need it to, but only because you're a good driver. For end users, they need everything set up exactly the way it's supposed to be, and it cannot deviate, because they have 0 ability to even diagnose what is happening (for example they can't even CTRL+ALT+DEL, but a clever sysadmin could probably write a script to allow CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the resource/process manager)
Kayden Foster
I've never had any issue using it for work related tasks, though most of my tasks are simple image edits/filters/touch ups (but I DarkRoom as well)
I'm guessing the workflow you're referring to would be something for a print shop, am I right?
Why would I get an overpriced poorly built computer with an absolutely obscene markup?
Landon Morgan
Hey, where would one go, to learn how to use Linux?
Charles Phillips
Why would I pay an obscene amount for a computer that is not at all suited for my needs?
Dominic Parker
Google.
Dylan Scott
5 min is pretty quick dude
Wyatt Bennett
Pirate windows obviously
Henry Collins
>"upset" >projecting this hard nobody is upset except you. stop projecting
Oliver Carter
theres a fuckton of shades between end-user and clever linux sysadmin. guys that have been windoze sysadmins can't get their heads around linux for exactly the reasons mentioned: It can take half a day of faffing around to get something simple to work. It's not a question of technical skill, just a severe lack of compatibility, and virtual machines/wine kinda defeat the purpose of having linux in the first place. It's definitely a piece of shit for peasants.
Jose Adams
you cannot learn it. it puts up walls that take hours to climb. then when you climb it there's no guarantee there won't be another wall. It's a piece of crap.
John Cooper
Linux is for poor people because it's free. It's for hobbyists because it takes tinkering for it to work. It's just constant tinkering. If you want to actually work you want something where the OS gets out of the way.
Jaxson Lewis
This. The OS should help with workflow if possible, be completely transparent at the very least and never ever hinder.
Jace Phillips
Linux work well if you need something lightweight, beyond that you want bloated systems that are ready to open anything with a double click. I don't want to stop and sudo apt get some shit all the time.
Carson Green
It took me many years to realize this; and fortunately I did before I burned out.
Now when I think to myself "why are you wasting your time on this game" or "why not do something constructive instead of drinking while watching a movie at home?," I follow that thought with "Because I worked my ass off this week and I want to do something that takes little to no effort."
Ryan Jones
Fuck off boomer. How else will I play Witcher 3 at 4K 60FPS?
Jordan Wood
youre so mad about someone "you dont care about" feeling superior? seems like you have some issues
Hudson Martinez
exactly. The rule of corporate is to have the work done efficiently with least man power and in as little time as possible. Who cares if your piece of codes are coming from Windows or Mac or Linux as long as the work is done.
Angel Butler
linux is garbage it's a bad copy of apple unix system it has terminal and that's it then u can suck dick
Joseph Rogers
>not having two ultrawides Fucking peasant.
Isaiah Murphy
I run PS on Winderz all the fucking time. You Apple lemmings are lemmings.
Jackson Jenkins
Based and redpilled
Dylan Wright
I have legit Windows, but what else am I supposed to go use? They all fucking suck. Where's the new OS? It seems now would be relatively easy to stomp these other faggot OSes with something quick and clean.
Eli Allen
>Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.
