This might be too extreme for some people but I listen to black metal so it's perfect for me

I don't think that this is better than butcher the weak or molesting the decapitated, but it's really nice.
Nice.

Damn straight. Jane's doesn't get nearly the recognition they should. Completely unique sound and style. Really pushed the alternative scene in new directions. Everyone talks about RHCP, but aside from Flea's bass work, their rap/punk/rock sound isn't that innovative (talented sure, innovative not so much). Likewise, the grunge movement has a gazillion sound-alikes with very few actually unique vibes. Don't get me wrong, I dig Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains (never really got into Nirvana, honestly), but no one was really moving music forward.
Jane's was living in a totally different world. I feel sad their contribution to music and legacy seems largely forgotten. XXX is one of the finest live albums ever.
based, even though it isn't an album
I wish they were still making new records. I liked how they were getting weirder and weirder almost towards a Men's Recovery Project kind of sound
>but no one was really moving music forward.
Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains definitely were and did. More so than Jane's honkey Addiction.
Are you fucking kidding me? You need to get your ears checked. Totally different sound.
Jane's predates the Pumpkins by years anyway. They were already broken up before Siamese Dream even dropped.
Melancholy isn't a sound it's a tone, and strumming like it's summer is a technique, and so is vamping like it's 1991.
I'm gonna assume you're less than 30 years old and weren't there when it was actually happening. Twenty bands sounded like PJ and AiC, both of whom owe their sound to Mother Love Bone anyway (granted, some members went on to be in PJ).
No one sounded like Jane's.
