they usually impound cars involved in chases. unless it was stolen.
the impounded car then sits around collecting dust,bacause you cant get it back unless you pay a shitload of money, so the car would just go to a police auction eventually and the buyers would scrap it or fix it themselves.

well, if you were being chased because you committed a crime then youre fucked. but if you were being chased with no probable cause, its up to you to show the judge that tge police damaged your property whilst they were breaking the law/violating your rights
