Yomigaeru Sora ("Rescue Wings")

Bumping for interest. I've seen Attack on Titan and Avatar the Last Airbender (OK, fucking sue me, I loved it) and I know that there are are probably some real animes out there worth watching.

Unironically this. The whole thing is on YouTube.

Anime is objectively bad

Code Geass (no OVA content) for highly anime anime
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann for manly awesome anime
Kaguya-sama / Love is War for comedic currently relevant anime
PsychoPass or Ghost in the Shell SAC for brainy thinking anime
Dororo for fantasy anime

Or if time killing, go for any hundreds of eps Shonen Jump whatever

If you like anime where they focus on the events that conspire per episode instead of a plot, I'd say Hayate No Gotoku (Hayate the Combat Butler) is pretty good, there's a lot of references to other things. Though do take it with a pinch of salt, I'm far from a connoisseur myself.

The only right answer

Also holy shit quads and dubs in the same post number

Also also, if you like isekai anime (lit. translated "other world"), Re:Zero is really good. And I've heard fabulous things about Your Name, but haven't seen it myself

Seconding that. ReZero takes time to make you realize a lot of background world elements are super important and worth looking back at.

Your Name is also good though a bit long.

That doesn't count as quads you fucking degenerate ladyboy

Slayers

Black lagoon is always a classic maybe some mightiest disciple

Konosuba is tons of fun. Just recently finished the first season again.

You already posted one of my favorites. If you're into comedy, definitely check out Tantei Opera Milky Holmes (don't worry if the first two episodes don't catch your interest that much, it gets way better over time).

Depends, which genres do you like? Are you very adept to anime? Usually One punch, Death Note man and Shingeki no Kyojin are good for starters, but it also depends on the genre you like. If you want some ecchi/harem shit, the typical High School DXD, Mahou no Testament, To love ru are great, if you want fight animes you shouldn't go on these, and if you love Iseaki you would like things like Overlord or Re:Zero.

As always it pretty much depends on what you want.

Go to myanimelist website and use "top" on the option anime in the superior bar. You will find the best rated animes and you also can search best animes, most popular and depending on the genre.

Just got done with Sword art online, it was pretty good until season 2 when they switch the plot up

Do you know of any sources? TPB is a bit sketchy.

How do I into Jojo?

Never watched/read it, but I've heard good things about it

Yeah highly agree. Most of people say that SAO is trash because the other seaons are fking cancer, but the fact is that the first seasons is pretty amazing, ignoring some things. One one side, I enjoyed the part before they ented the 2nd world the most, but the second part was almost as good.

I know that the rest of seasons seem as trash, but you can't just say that because the rest is bad, the first is too.

One example is shingeki no kyojin, the first season and second are not that good and even a 7/10, but the third season (part 2) is a fking masterpiece. You just simply cannot deny that.

Hmm it's quite a weird bizarre anime.

You need to watch the 2000 year tv series (bizarre adventures), that will cover 1 and 2nd season, then you go with 3rd season "Stardust", then 4th "Unbreakable diamond" and finally "Golden wing" the last anime aired. If you want to keep from there, then you need to read manga, otherwise you can wait for the 6th as me (if i knew they wouldn't have i would read the manga).

Found it on 1337x

Okay, ty I'll make a note of that

That's a good election thought.

I'm going to read the novel, and veryone agrees that it's a masterpiece. I prefer to cover all the routes and the games, and then watch the animated stuff, it's way more pleasing to see the novel characters "alive"

Okay, someone please explain why people like this to me.

I generally try to see things so I can explain accurately why I don't like them (did that with Danganrompa) but this one... eesh, the time travel was pushing the 'don't think too hard about it' route and I wasn't enjoying any of the characters, then it got to HUMAN IS DEAD and I gave up. It was so hard to watch but people keep loving it.

Haven't seen GITS, but a comment on Psycho_pass (which im watching now during quarantine) - in general, when a lot of people say 'brainy' or 'intelligent' anime, really they mean anime that touches on morals, philosophy culture.

PsychoPass does touch on those things. But it's different to be deeply steeped in philosophy. I like Psycho-Pass, I'm enjoying it, but i'd say it's closer to the average anime than it is Aristotle's Metaphysics. It's not the deepest shit you'll ever see. Which isn't terrible, but people need to be aware of what 'brainy' actually means.

the only anime i've seen that are real deep in intellect and meaning are Master Keaton and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Those are legitimately animes that intelligent people will enjoy and simpletons will not. Simpletons can enjoy the stuff that 'touches' on meaning, which is probably why Psycho-Pass is much more well known than something like Master Keaton.

Master Keaton made me really realize 'holy shit, there are people who really make anime for smart adults SPECIFICALLY! this is fucking crazy!'

anime is not unilaterally garbage, but it is mostly garbage. stay away from popular recommendations, most anime are 90% the same with fucking innocent schoolgirl harem slice-of-life bullshit

look for sites with user reviews, and find a user who uses high-level english. i'm 100% serious. find someone who references literature or academic stuff in his reviews, and look through his account to find his other reviews.

it takes work to find genuinely good anime/manga because SO MUCH of it is genuinely garbage. so this tactic of finding smart reviewers and going through their history is actually pretty useful. i've found a few gems this way, and gems are great to find

Its a newer anime about VR gaming... pretty damn good.
