It's really simple and obvious. In the same way that there are more out gay people, because everyone is more relaxed about it, there are more out trans people. Cos most people don't give a shit.
There were probably just as many trans folks 30 years ago, or 100 years ago or 300 years ago, but they couldn't express it, cos assholes like you would hang them. Now the rest of society has chilled the fuck out, and they can do what they want. Good for them.
