So I've been thinking quite a bit about the possibility of whether or not a God exists.
Usually the argument against God is that these stories are just fiction and there is no proof that one exists. I totally understand this position and it does seem like the most logical position at first glance. After all, we don't know exactly what happened during ancient times.
But one thing caught my attention today. The stories in the bible, koran and the jewish one have a lot of similarities. If there was no God and people were making it up, then these stories should've been completely different from each other.
The fact that all the stories have almost the same stories, makes me think there is more to this than people think. It can't be a coincidence that all the stories are very similar to each other. This is something that stumps atheist.
Well, the ancient Greek and Roman religions have similarities, so best sacrifice a boar to Jupiter Maximus to be on the safe side.
Kevin Russell
I would say that pre-industrial societies went through many similar circumstances through their development. For example, many ancient societies have stories where the Earth is destroyed by a massive flood. Floods were an integral part to their lives, both as a boon for crops, and as a destructive force. It makes sense that they would write it into their mythology.
As another example, ancient societies would recognize that sex makes babies. So, let's make our savior special by coming from a virgin birth.
I would also note there are many key differences between beliefs, and many stories that don't translate across regions because mythologies sometimes birth their own unique stories.

The bible, torah and koran are all based on the same abrahamic texts. Thats why theyre similar
Jaxson Baker
Also, the three religious texts you mention are the three abrahamic religions. They share stories because they are literally from the same source: the middle east. The Torah (Jewish Bible) is effectively the old testament (the first half of the Christian Bible).
Lincoln Kelly
Those writers lived very far from each other and it's unlikely that they were able to communicate with each other.
Leo Brown
you're in way over your head. you won't come close to being able to use the term "exist" in relation to god. i say this after getting a philosophy bachelor's. it's not that you can't prove "there is a god", it's just that you have no idea how sloppy your approach is. it would never work.
Camden Howard
And theyre all bullshit, the second law of thermodynamics says energy cannot be made or destroyed, how can god have any divine intervention in this universe without breaking the basic laws of physics? Matter is energy and energy is matter, E=Mc2 after all, so doing something like making the ten commandments appear in stone tablet form is impossible. There is no evidence of god contacting man, so determining any religious law is ridiculous.
Julian Evans
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you suggesting each of those religious texts had their own single writer, and they didn't collaborate between texts for their works?
Joseph Moore
All human civilization as have dragons, they made those up, there for dragons?
In reality humans made up bigger than life stories about their idols and protectors, their fathers, then just couldn't grow up and understand or accept being alone. It evolved into sky daddy. Same way all humans get a little on edge with eyes looking at them in the dark. The ones who ran lived and the ones who weren't scared got eaten. The living one fucked.
Parker Russell
Also the Norse thought that the Romans were worshiping the same gods they were, just with different names, because of the many similar stories.
The three Abrahamic religions are similar because they're part of a series. The Torah (the Jewish one) is the Old Testament. The Bible you're familiar with is that same book with the New Testament added on. The Qu'aran is the third sequel. Both Christianity and Islam are the result of a new prophet appearing in the Jewish religion.
Christopher Lee
dragons are real retard we dig there bones up in the ground all the fucking time
Jayden Morris
What trumps the bible over any other religion that makes its content worth considering? Youre not investigating chunga the guatemalan volcano god and what he commands, and he's just as valid.
Trash all religion and start from square 1 with the scientific method as your guide.
Charles Bailey
the greeks and the romans and the norse all adopted christianity because it was far superior
Brody Richardson
Dinosaurs are not dragons. Winged reptiles who guard valuables and can breathe out fire. Dragons always guarded money, women, or something a human want. Animals arnt like that. Birds steal grass and guard it for nests. Dogs bury rotten meat to protect it.
I'm not retarded enough to think dinosaurs protected gold and fucked women.
Josiah Butler
They adopted it at the point of a sword because the Roman emperor declared it to be the true religion and had his empire enforce it.
Juan Richardson
I'm saying there wasn't telephone or other communication mediums at the time. It's highly unlikely that a writer would've been able to contact a previous author without knowing his exact address.
Flawed argument. God isn't bound by the laws that he created for others.
Jacob Morgan
islam is the netflix adaption of christianity, it's the product of a superior culture being turned to shit by tribal arab retards
Isaiah Perez
Read a book Jesus fucking christ
Samuel Hall
Just as Christianity is the Kazaa of jews.
Jose Nelson
I agree with you in theory ...
... but referring to physics in a theological discussion is pointless. I'd think that the point of a god is exactly to above the laws of mortals.
Besides, the law of thermodynamics is still only proven to apply on earth, saying that it applies to something that nears infinity like the universe is pure arrogance because a human will never be able to prove it always always and to everything.
I hope you see the irony of you referring to lack of evidence on contact with god, then referring to a law that hasn't been proven to apply all matter and anti-matter.
Thomas Martin
just remember that all atheists are coomers and most are obese
Daniel King
those three religions you mentioned have similarities because they were heavily influenced by each other, and a lot of their stories were pulled from the Epic of Gilgamesh which was written way before they were even a thought.
Now there's other religions that have a multitude of gods as well such as Greek and Norse mythology you have Roman mythology, you have Hinduism etcetera...
The real question that matters is, which one is the correct one?
The reason I think that question is the one that matters most is because, which one has the correct afterlife?
If your belief is indeed no afterlife then there is no point in questioning and all is pointless.
How many times more does it need to be proven so we can settle the matter? Seems nothing seems to satisfy the skeptics so we waste time proving it over and over again.
Lucas Cruz
That's kind of the point, yeah? The fact a God can bend reality seems a bit superfluous to question..
Joseph Hernandez
If we consider God as supernatural, then he can't be measured using science, the study of the natural world using empirical evidence. Assuming there's more to this world than what we percieve which we can't prove either.
Jose Kelly
okay old gay bitch lmao why tf are you hanging out with kids on the internet
Grayson Cox
Thank you come again
Brody Hall
I agreed. Just because we don't have the tools to explore the things that are beyond the capabilities of science doesn't mean we should stop thinking about them.
Jackson Perez
Was here before you could even talk or walk. I'll be here after you grow up and become a welfare queen after shitting on them your entire youth, ill also be the guy paying for you, your families, and your parents lifestyle.
>>why would a old guy ever be at blank! Cause it was mine before it was yours you literal retard.
Xavier Hall
>bible, koran and the jewish one have a lot of similarities. Because they all belong to the same branch of Abrahamic religions That’s why i hate having religious discussions with people because people think that god/religion = Christianity, Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, whatever So basically people already have a biased opinion just based on this fact alone I’m not even religious but the deeper you go into history and have psychedelic trips, the more you can look at it from different angles but ultimately there is no definitive answer as to whether “god” is out there or any other intelligent being/design for that matter We could all be a tiny bit of bits of information in a really complex simulation Who knows and why does it even matter?
