Anyone on /b watch M*A*S*H?

Yeah, they always show it on those channels that perpetually rerun old shows. I have the whole series on DVD.. It is also on Hulu I believe

There are some releases that don’t have the laugh track included. It really changes the whole show.

i also think alan alda had a lot to do with changing the show from comedy to dramedy. he became a writer and producer. it sounds like he was a real egomaniac. i've heard that the cast complained that he made the show always focus the most on his character even though it was an ensemble cast. i think gary burghoff and him really hated each other and burgoff wanted to leave really badly because of alda.

Yes, apparently the show's creators didn't want a laugh track to be included at all, but pressure from the TV networks made them put it in. The compromise was that there was never a laugh track during scenes in the operating room

yeah but honestly i didn't feel like most of the other characters could be the "main character" like hawkeye maybe charles but thats only becaues he had the whole fish outta water thing going on

Same with Wayne Rogers. He was under the impression that he was on an even playing field with Alda in terms of them being co-stars, but left because he felt that the show focused too much on Hawkeye.

I grew up on MASH. My graduation party was MASH themed; I was Hawkeye of course. My mom came up with a relay race she called Section 8, where in you had to preform a ton of wacky challenges in order to pass the baton to the next teammate and first to finish going insane first gets to go home.
