How long have you been on Yas Forums and what is your opinion of it's current state user?

First discovered like 2007. Left 2009. Check in a handful of times each year. It just gets shittier and shittier. Used to be a source of hilarity, now it's banal. Lost all of the things that made it great.

OP here thanks for all the replies so far I'm somewhat a newfag (joined mid 2019) and from what I gather from the replies is Yas Forums and Yas Forums havent really changed much over the years or has gotten worse. Now heres another question that you can answer if you want what do you think Yas Forums needs to become a better site?

I answered this in an "advice from an old man" thread awhile back. I've been on Yas Forums since 2008. Here's my take:

First of all, the only answer is "Yas Forums was always bad". However, we were around when rage comics were invented, along with "oh god what have i done". Some of my faves that you may have never seen are "foul bachelor frog" and (even better) "foul couple frogs". Yas Forums (especially Yas Forums) was filled with OC and new ideas and edgy shit. That became the purview of 9gag in later years, and even they are down to just reposts now. Yas Forums conducted raids, we were there for "dun goofed", and "epic beard man" and everything else. I remember the dudes in Oakland finding the epic beard man and Amber Lance, and I admit it's rare to see that now. So I don't know, I had to write all that down to give you an answer:

Yas Forums is sorely lacking in edgy OC anymore. Sure, there's the occasional thot who gets doxxed and we enjoy her nudes, but that was standard fare back when. I'd say Yas Forums isn't what it was (keeping in mind it always sucked), yet I'm still here. I wish there were fewer Andy Sixx threads and bananas and traps, but times change and my old ass has to embrace it and hope it shakes out ok.....in this area and 100 others.

So to me, "the world is going to hell in a handbasket and you dumb kids need to get off my lawn", and yet, EVERY generation has said that yet here we all are and (overall) doing ok. I would love to see a return of OC to Yas Forums, tho, but Andy Sixx's log and a fucking banana prevent that. However, Yas Forums can still get a president elected, so I can't bitch about it too much.

sure there was massive shitposting, racism, negativity and hate but most of it came from a need to be as original as possible.
so trolls where funny as fuck. faggots where hilarious and even racists brought their own forms of entertainment.
because it was relatively small and had a sense of pioneering behind it which kinda forced people to get with the program.

Started in 08ish? Havent been active until quarantine. Its much less enjoyable now. Original thought threads (this barely counts as one but still is) were far more common. Every day here now its literally a conglomoration of WWYD/YLYL/Rekt thread?/girls youd like to see blacked/social thread/etc. There arent any threads facilitating free or unique thought anymore. Just seems like bots keep reposting the same threads.

I think Yas Forums has been on a downward spiral mentally and now we've lost it completely.

When I come on to Yas Forums, I always kick it root down. I decided this the very first time I logged on. I asked myself “Sooo, how am I gonna kick it?” and the only rational, logical answer I could see at the time was “I’m gonna kick it root down. Naturally.” It’s served me well thus far, and I would recommend it to others who are sitting on the fence. Hope this helps.
