It's only the various measures taken by the states (despite the feds apathy) that might keep the mortality rate down to flu level.

Not trying to give them credit just saying that comparing the number of deaths to a virus without those measures in place over a longer period of time is just dishonest.

It is undeniable that without those measures in place right now the number of deaths in the US would be way way above flu level. And the fact that were already in the 40,000 mark in the last couple of months even with measures like that place just prove how much deadlier this is than seasonal flu.

If the flu kills 80k in the US in a year when we let it go free and can vaccinate against it then obviously a virus that kills half that many in a fraction of the time that we can't vaccinate against is going to be more dangerous
