It is called Butane Hash Oil. But more accurately its hydrocarbon extract, because you might use other solvents such as propane to extract. The reason the chemicals are used is because of their ability to pull desirable cannabinoids and also evaporate at normal atmospheric conditions.
If you're buying off of someone who makes it in their kitchen yeah, but if the extractor knows their shit there wont be any harmful chemicals in the end product.

I'm certified to run extractors and distillation setups but haven't used much new tech (last time I extracted was late 2018, I know there are a host of new system types and setups now including FFE, moving to passive thermo-powered machines to say the least)
