was shit yesterday and now its still shit, fuck off

Right. Even the solder job is shit.. good think it’s not actually a water pipe.

*thing
Also why are there cup links on a straight piece of pipe?

made myself some diner tonight, gonna enjoy a medium piece like a real man, pic related

Now I'm really interested if Yas Forums can DIY something other than True, I should have prepped shit a bit more.
They cover ugly screws. This is literally 1 inch of 1/2 inch pipe that was cut in half (sorta)

Quality MR chix user. Bone apple teeth

Wait a sec. It is white meat... Did you just chicken raw?

>raw chicken
MEDIUM RARE

Was this like your first diy project or something?

You're not using enough heat when you solder. The pipe melts the solder, not the flame

That's trippy. You post on /x/?

I finished this a bit earlier

nah....i've only posted on /lit/, Yas Forums, and Yas Forums but it's been a bit for any of them

Nope. This is second thing I made out of copper.
First things I soldered were a valve and two threads, since I couldn't find a valve with internal-external thread. It was prepped good, fluxed good. Joints looked better, but solder was all over the place, since I couldn't care less about wiping excess flux before soldering. Joints looked something like this. I used way too much solder I think. Like 2 cm for 1/2 pipe.
Not quite.
I didn't flux some joints well enough. And I didn't sand the pipe and fitting.
Couple joints have only like 3/4 of circumference covered in solder, because of oxides that weren't removed by anything.
Heat - yeah, on brass fitting I didn't apply enough, I reheated it and solder flowed inside the fitting, so I didn't even knock off the drop.
> The pipe melts the solder, not the flame
True. But I didn't want to "burn" the pipe, because in this case I needed looks over actual joint.

Enjoy your green towels.

Did you use pipe cleaners. I.e. wire brushes to clean the insides ? What kind of torch? MAAP? the oils from your finger tips can cause problems with soldering.

Not gonna happen. I tested this with floor rug I saturated in piss and coppa pipe. Coppa pipe became green like stature of liberty, and rug was clean.
Idk, maybe piss is detergent, dunno

>looks over actual joint
Copper pipe isn't structural you fucking dingus. Not only that but that shit will turn green in a bathroom in a week and leave a disgusting bunch of oxidation gunk on anything you put on there. Copper is probably the absolute worst material you could have chosen for this project.

>rug saturated in piss
>rug was clean
wut

OP is an idiot, user.

This.
Clearly didn't or you would see the buff marks on the pipe beyond the joint. He said he wanted it to 'look pretty' not actually be a good joint.
Should sandpaper everything so it's consistent, solder it properly, sand it all clean so the joints look clean, the clear coat it so you don't have to worry about it oxidizing later.
It will still look like shit though even after all that work.

post this shit on >>/diy/
its a slow board, but whatever that thing you made is will drive them into a collective autistic rage

>Did you use pipe cleaners. I.e. wire brushes to clean the insides ?
Sandpaper, 500 grit. Outside of pipe, and I skipped fittings (because they looked clean to me, but there apparently were not clean at all).
On outdoor hose stopcock valve I cleaned everything good, inside and out with 500 grip paper.
(too cheap for wire brushes).
>? What kind of torch? MAAP?
1.5 kW butane (on those 200 mg canisters). Like all plumbers here use.
Don't get me wrong, this shit can heat 10 mm copper for AC red hot. It will take forever (compared to giant ass propane torch older plumbers here have that hooks up to a 5 liter cylinder), but it is possible.
>the oils from your finger tips can cause problems with soldering.
Again, on stopcock I wiped everything with booze, but now it is corona-achoo, and booze is expensive. And methylated... I don't think I want to get blind by accidentally drinking it. So my panties were used to clean it.
Nah, iron would be worse.
Also, copper gets black, not green. It gets green only when you have aggressive environment. Seashore, piss, flux, etc.
Bathroom is just water vapor, not some salt or shit, so it will get black.
Clean from copper stains, of course.
Yep. I wanted it to be pretty, and it turned out to be shit in terms of strength (even though 100 kg no problem), and in terms of looks.
They were cold to this.

I did another joint.
I think it looks better.
