In my mind and from what I have seen, the military are the kind of serious people who have no time or interest in stupidities like these, people who have seen things that have left their mark on them and who have a very different vision of the world, in addition to being people who shouldn't be bothered.

I feel you mostly are thinking about scarred veterans. Though, I do have to admit, we do see the world in a different way.
