Younger people aren't dying because our healthcare system is barely holding on while trying to prevent them from dying. If all the young people suddenly get it due to not staying at home, there would be no more healthcare available. As such, the number of younger deaths will definitely balloon.

Because it mutates quickly and comes in many strains. You *cant* have a true flu shot. Covid-19 mutates slowly. A vaccine or recovery from infection would protect you for years, and if youre infected within that time, its an update.

Influenza mutates much more than covid-19

1.) It ends when we get ubiquitous testing
2.The vaccine is going to a year to a year and a half, so that is not going to save us for awhile
3.) It doesn't just effect old people.
4.) 2% is still 7 1/2 million people

You seem to have made an error with lack of knowledge. Young people survive, yes. A good handful still get sick enough to require icu care. If youre young and it develops to a respiratory infection, yeah, your chances are great. Provided you get an icu bed and a ventilator and other forms of treatment. Your odds of dying are much much higher if you dont have access to a hospital because you can still get very sick. The young survive at such high rates because there are still supplies and beds. Not for long.

And its the same reason you cant put your kids in school in some places if they arent vaccinated against the bigguns like polio.
