Help me, please. You fuckers. I think I have Rheumathoid Arthritis. I have this inflammatory pain in allmost every joint. It comes and goes everyday. I think I'm going nuts. It started about a year ago. In my ankles, knees, thumbs and hands. It came and went. Sometimes so bad that I thought I'd have to sit in a wheelchair soon. Over the months it has just gotten worse and worse. Now it's in pretty much every joint every fucking day. (mostly in the evening) For no reason. I'm not overweight and don't have any injuries. I still work out... or at least try to work out as often as possible.
I thought it was gout, but the doctor said it's not. He's still waiting for another lab value.
Has anyone of you fuckers ever experienced something like this? Any advice?
Could this come from periodontitis? I brush my teeth everyday and they're clean. But I think I might have a dead tooth in my mouth. I've also had severe problems with my teeth when I was younger. (and still have)
Also: DON'T YOU DARE FUCKING DELETE THIS THREAD MODS.

You must be an American who can't afford to see a doctor otherwise you wouldn't be here asking for advice.
Owen Bell
No I'm a eurofag. But the doctor has to wait for the lab results. My man. Do you have any idea what could be wrong with me?
Jace Allen
Anyone please.

FUCK I should've accepted the painkillers.
Connor Brown
Maybe RATES. Good news is there's plenty of drugs to get this under control if that's what it is. Corticosteroids, Methotrexate, various other immunosuppressants, monoclonal antibodies. There's no shortage of meds that would help RA
Anthony Brooks
* RA damn autocorrect
Jaxson Hill
smoke pot, it helps with the pain and anguish.
Gabriel Roberts
it could be dietary, or some of your meds reacting badly
Jose Morgan
Shit I was hoping to not become dependant on pain killers at the age of 23. What do you mean with RATES?
Logan Morgan
I don't take any meds. I eat pretty much everything.
Henry Wood
Alright, how old are you? Do you have any other diseases? Anyone in your family suffer from autoimmune disease? Is there any stiffness in the joints? Do you have a fever? Have you had a cold recently? Any rashes? Any other complaints?
Charles Young
I meant RA rheumatoid arthritis. Autocorrect fucked it up. Also none of the meds I mentioned are painkillers at all. They either just reduce inflammation in the body so you feel no pain in the joints or as biologics stop major inflammation at all early in the process. Not painkillers
Connor Stewart
Sry. I'm 23. Not that I know of. My mother said she had/has gout at the age of 40 and had to stop eating certain things.
Yes. My joints do feel quite stiff.
No cold, no fever, no rashes.
Chase Gutierrez
But aren't there any drastic side effects? Don't they weaken your immune systemand cause alot of problems?
Kayden Smith
It's not gout. Gout is a monoarthropathy (as in usually effects a single joint, most commonly one of the toes), and you wouldn't have gout at 23. Yeah, sorry dude, from what you're describing it sounds like RA, although it could be an early presentation of another autoimmune connective tissue disease; Lupus, polymyalgia rheumatica, and so on. You went to your doctor, and they drew blood work, which was def the right thing to do. The good news is there are very effective drugs (not just NSAIDS) that target the cause of the inflammation, so you should be A-ok.
Brandon Smith
Thank you for trying at least.
Oliver Diaz
Well the corticosteroids are not something you want to be on forever. Many of the others do have side effects that are usually well tolerated. Since they suppress the immune system yeah you will be more susceptible to infections. In that case many meds will be suspended for a time. With a good doctor and your compliance user it can be well managed. The key point is that you need to follow their advice and figure out what you have.
Easton Peterson
Thank you for your response. But gum disease can't be the reason for this right? It mostly hurts at night. I've heard that when you have periodontitis it also hurts mostly at night.
Cameron Baker
He'll be put on a TNF-a inhibitor most likely. So unless he has TB, he should be fine.
Charles Thomas
I've also heard several "experts" say that in the 30's they just pulled out the RA patient's teeth incase periodontitis was the cause.
Isaac Peterson
No, gum disease will not in itself cause joint pain, you might have read something about Strep being the cause of rheumatic fever, and by loose association saw that certain Strep species can seed heart valves after dental procedures (which is a "carditis", part of a constellation for rheumatic fever) Now, as I said before, non-infectious gum disease can be a sign of another autoimmune disease together with arthritis. So it's not that your gums are causing your joints to hurt, it's that something is causing your gums and your joints to be hurting together.
Caleb Collins
And please take everything I say with a grain of salt. I'm not a licensed doctor yet, so I can't be offering medical advice. This is all just speculation. Please go off of whatever your actual doctor says.
Easton Sullivan
Ok thank you for the response. I was just hoping. Are you a doctor?
Nicholas Torres
Maybe eventually something like enbrel or whatever. Usually though they wouldn't start out with biologics but see if something else would work first like methotrexate or pred etc
Gabriel Bennett
...
Jace Gutierrez
Huh, didn't know that. Figured that you'd just go straight for modulators. Thanks for the insight, as I said, I'm still learning.
