It’s a natural water birth. It’s a birthing pool. The woman gives birth in the water, baby floops out of her vagene in the water — safe because baby breathes through the cord until it’s clamped. Typically better health outcomes for the baby in a water birth. Very, very common for the husband to be in the water while she’s in stage 2 of labor. If not him a doula. Maybe both. They help position the woman or help provide counter pressure to ease the pain or expedite the birth. Obviously you give birth there’s blood and the water turns red. Stage three it’s much redder — placenta out.
The only thing that’s not super common is the kids in the pool but I’ve seen it happen frequently enough. A birth like that is probably happening 50 times a day. 100 times a day in even a small city.
